unable to communicate with recording device

i just got npvr and went through the steps of installing my analog device. now it is the only device enabled and i scanned through all the channels to add them, but when i go to live tv it gives me "unable to communicate with recording service" any ideas?

you probably have a firewall blocking communication. but it's tough to tell without logs. See the second post in the thread linked below.
