I've just uploaded v1.8.1 of the nDroid app to the Android Market and v1.8.1 of the nDroid service installer to the nDroid wiki page.

Please install the new nDroid service before installing the nDroid app. Remember to stop the service before running the installer.

Changes...

Quote:2012-02-29 - v1.8.1

nDroid app:
  • Moved settings / maintenance control to a new Settings preference screen.
  • Added Videos and Music menu options.
  • Added small pop-up messages to acknowledge a record/cancel request
  • Added duration to guide details dialog

nDroidService:
  • Fixed a couple of bugs which would prevent the service / listener from recovering after a wake from standby / hibernate.

Hi

I have just installed nDroid service 1.8.1.0 and nDroid App 1.8.1.

When I run the app it tells me I need to upgrade my Ndroid service to 1.8.1!

I have reinstalled the service but still get the same prompt. What do you suggest I try.

Thanjs for nay help.

Are you sure that you were successful when you reinstalled the service? When I just tried to do it by running the downloaded .exe, it was failing giving an error saying that the service already existed. I had to first, manually delete the old nDroid Service service. Then I could run the .exe and successfully install the new version.

The service is running fine - I have now worked out that this problem only arises on Android 4.0.3 which I had just installed on my Asus tablet.
I installed nDroid on my Samsung S2 running 2.3.5 and it connected fine.

So, noy yet compatible with Android 4 perhaps?

Thanks for your help.

Hmm, I've got a number of v4 users showing in my Developers Console and have had for some time now. I can't think of anything inherently different with nDroid v1.8.1 that would prevent it working when it seems it was fine with v1.7.x and earlier.

I'll investigate.

It's working fine here, Brian. I can still reach the server after a sleep. I've got a few small things, but want to test it some more before posting them. Thanks!

Great, thanks for the feedback. Hopefully I nailed the wake from sleep issue for good. Tentatively looking forward to hearing about the other issues (I think). Wink

Cheers,
Brian

Just some small things:
- I'm missing the icons in "Now Showing" and "All Timeslots" views;
- When browsing in Music or Videos the back button brings me back to the main window, but I would expect it to go one directory level back.
- I've got one "Music" directory in my npvr setup that contains three sub directories. In npvr it shows the three subdirectories, but with nDroid it shows the music directory, so one extra click to get to the subdirectories.

I've been meaning to post it, but I've been too lazy to do it. I just tried it again just to be sure. My phone is running android 2.1 and I immediately get "The app nDroid [...] has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

I know you had issues with 2.1 before, and that this error doesn't give you info to troubleshoot it, but I figured you would like to know...

Does it give you an option to upload a crash report to the Android Market? If so could you do that please? Don't worry, there's no personal info sent - it's just a stack trace but that would point me at the area of code which is failing.

Yes, the Now Showing and Timeslot views didn't get much in the way of cosmetic treatment. They're high-ish on my ToDo list.

I'll probably intercept the Back button for media folders - I agree it makes more sense to use it to navigate back up the folders.

I see what you mean about the Music folder - I have two folders in the npvr settings and the Music plugin allows selecting one or other. I see now with only one it goes straight into it. I'll try and mirror that behaviour ASAP.

Cheers,
Brian
