That's the problem. Unfortunately it does not. It just refuses to run it.

If you have the time at some point you could install the 'catlog - logcat reader' app (author Nolan Lawson) available free from the Android Market.

Procedure to get the log is as follows...

1. Try nDroid to reproduce the crash
2. Start catlog and hit the Pause button (||) to the right of the search box
3. Enter uk.co.beetec in the search box
4. Press your phone's Menu button and select 'Send'
5. Select 'As text' (if you're using GMail) or 'As attachment' (if NOT using GMail - they don't like Zip files).
6. Email it to yourself to an account you can access from your PC then attach the logcat text in a file here.

Sorry, I know it's a pain but I can't immediately think of anything which would cause a problem with v2.1 and without the logcat it's near impossible to diagnose.

Cheers,
Brian

Here's the report log. The first log was from this morning, and didn't capture much. The second occasion I tried to running it with catlog already paused. Not sure if it was because of this, but it seemed to catch a lot more data...

It shouldn't matter but capturing the logcat can be a bit odd on occasions.

OK, I can see what is happening but I'm not 100% sure why. It's trying to copy some temp files to the SD card but it's failing. The code checks to make sure the SD card is mounted so that's not the problem. All I can think is it failed to create the 'temp' folder for some reason.

If you have a file explorer app (such as Astro), could you check to see if the following folder structure exists?
Code:
/sdcard/Android/data/uk.co.beetec.android.nDroid/files/temp
Also, it seems unlikely but check you have free space on the SD card.

The dir exists, has do the files. 23Mb free right now.

Some more info about my phone. I'm using the app2sd solution, to extent the available free space. Ever since I partitioned the sd card to make this work, the stock camera app complains that I need to insert an SD card. Since I really wouldn't use phone as camera, I never bothered try to figure why I'm getting that error. Similar sympton?

If there are files in there that suggests you have had a previous version of nDroid installed - I meant to ask earlier, is that correct? It still wouldn't explain why this is happening but it's a positive sign if that's the case. Have you tried un-installing nDroid and re-installing? An un-install should delete the /sdcard/Android/data/uk.co.beetec.android.nDroid directory and all of its contents. Not normally needed but it might be worth a try.

I don't think so but I'm not sure. How did you partition the SD card? I presume it involved formatting it and if you didn't use the phone's own Format utility you may have lost some system folders. My stock camera uses a folder /sdcard/DCIM/100MEDIA for image storage (strictly case-sensitive) and if that's not available I'd guess my camera would complain.

That shouldn't be the issue here as apart from the /sdcard part, nDroid creates all directories in that temp path if they don't exist.

Let me know if an un-install fixes things otherwise I'l probably be uploading a minor update in the next few days and I'll add some extra logic at that stage of the app to see if it fixes things.

Just to say thanks Brian and to get subscribed to the thread. Just installed on my hp microserver / samsung tab 8.9 and it seems to be working fine.
I'm new to this android stuff so another leanring curve to climb!

Sorry, 1st dumb question. Is there a recommended player? Tried some and best so far for me was diceplayer, but a bit jerky video still. (this on livetv - freeview).

That's good to know.

Well it's not too steep, I found it fairly intuitive. One thing I'll advise is don't have anything to do with 'task killer' apps. They're evil.

I tried a couple and have stuck with MX Video Player - it seems OK with live TV and is very good with recordings. I guess it may be a case that some apps work better on some devices than others especially when it comes to AV stuff. Also there may be settings in the player app which might help improve things - I know MX player has settings to choose hw/sw decoding and de-interlacing as well as a couple of others so it may be worth tweaking whatever apps you try to see if it helps.

Been messing around with the partitions (almost to the point of being unable to restore Big Grin), but still no joy. Although I got some additional log messages for you. Might be helpful.

Incidentally I solved my stock camera "insert sd card" error. Something must had been amiss with the directory (it did exist), because it's working after one of the formats I did.
