Hi,

I updated both the nDroid service, and the app yesterday. Since then I am unable to schedule or cancel recordings. I am able to view and update the guide with no problems, and streaming TV works too. If I try to schedule a recording I just get 'Submitting recording request...' and then nothing else happens. When trying to cancel a recording, I do get a 'Cancel recording success' message, but when I check on the server, the recording has not been cancelled.

All settings are exactly the same as they were before the upgrade, and I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled both the service and the app.

Can you suggest anything?

I'm running the latest version of NPVR on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Zip and attach the nDroid logs and I'll take a look.

Logs are attached.

I can see a lot of recording requests I made tonight in the listener log. None of those were successfully scheduled.

I should probably also explain that since the previous version didn't always work well after the server was in standby, I have a scheduled task to restart the nDroid service on wake, so you'll probably see a lot of restarts in the logs.

Thanks for looking at this, please let me know if you need any more information.

The cause seems to be that the nDroid service isn't able to talk to the NEWA web service.

I can see the issue started after you went to the latest version of nDroid but did you happen to also update any NEWA components around the same time? I'm not up to date with the latest NEWA patches so I just need to know in case something has changed there.

To be honest I'm not sure at the moment - I'l have to think about it. It doesn't seem like it's a software firewall issue if you're able to stream live TV (which is handled by the npvr web service on the same port). Unless port 8866 is blocked for localhost but open for your LAN - unlikely.

I moved the NPVR web server to port 80 about a week ago, as I can't get to port 8866 through the firewall at work. The previous version seemed to work ok after that, but I guess it's possible that I didn't try to schedule any recordings in that time, or just didn't notice that they didn't work. I apologize for blaming the app, if that's the case.

I just moved NEWA back to the default port, and everything now seems to work.

Can the current version be made to work with NEWA on port 80, or will it only look for 8866?

Thanks again for your help with this.

lol, don't assume nDroid isn't to blame just yet. Smile

The service actually reads various settings from the npvr config.xml including the web server port number so the theory is it's supposed to work with any port.

I'll take a look.

Yep, feel free to blame the nDroid service code - I'm not sure how but I managed to break it. I'm out for a few hours but I'll post an update to the wiki later tonight. Sorry about that and thanks for pointing it out.

Cheers,

While on the subject of broken codes. Unless I'm missing some important piece of info, but nDroid Service Settings although saved, apparentely aren't reflected after restarting (specificaly the listening port number). I was trying to change the port to debug my issues, but from Listener.log it seems it does not change from the default port.
