I may have broken the "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" rule. GB-PVR was running fine on my Windows 7 PC with an ATI TV Wonder 650 PCI tuner (S-video input). But I decided I needed more room on my C: partition and so enlarged it and re-installed Windows 7. When GB-PVR was re-installed, I had audio but no video. I decided now was the time to upgrade to NPVR. Same thing - audio, but no video. I've tried different video renderers but nothing makes a difference. Any suggestions on what to try next? (I can supply logs if required.)

It's almost certainly the video decoders.

Either way, reproduce the problem and post the npvr.log and I'll take a look.

Wow, that's a quick response!

I've included all three logs: NPVR, NRecord and FilterCheck.

Here's a new bit of info: I just tried another GB-PVR install with co-ax instead of S-Video. Now I know I tried this before - both with GV-PVR and NPVR. But this time it's working - at least with GB-PVR. If there's nothing showing up wrong in the logs, then maybe there's an intermittent physical fault somewhere in the card itself. Or I messed up the previous co-ax installs and there's only something wrong with the S-Video cable.

Thanks for now.

In the logs it doesn't look like decoders are the problem like I originally expected.

On most analog cards, svideo and composite both share the same audio input, but separate video input. I suspect its trying to use the other video input, giving black video, but valid audio.

I was indeed able to install NPVR on top of GB-PVR using co-ax as the input to my tuner card. The cable company reports nothing wrong with the set-top box, so it would seem something has gone wrong with the S-video cable (proprietary, unfortunately) or the tuner card. Oh well, it all works with co-ax and I can live without stereo sound. Thanks, anyway.
