I know you mentioned that everything worked well with GBPVR, but being a different application, maybe your signal is just not strong enough for NPVR? I have seen this to be true with WINTV from hauppauge.

Can you try putting the tuner closer to the source for capture or amplify it at the source? I don't know DVB hardware, but it sounds similar to our cable systems in the US.

I don't think that the signal is to weak, the TV shows the signal strength and it is always close to 100%

I programmed a recording and another one directly afterwards so the PC didn't go to sleep in between, the result was a failed recording followed by a successful recording.

If you think the problems are Computer wake problems, you might try looking at MCE Standby Tool. Previously I had to use it to get te computer to behave on sleep / wake problems previously - latest rebuild seems OK sofar without. it will reset hardware on wake and it can run batch files or programs from reg keys (later beta versions)

It seems that it has to do something with with the wakeup, afterwards NPVRs first attempt to record fails. Right now I am looking for a workaround, perhaps sub will find the time to have a look at it and have a look at the logs, I would prefer to use the standard NPVR without any additional scripts/tools/extra code.

+1 on the Wakeup theory.

My failure was upon wakeup, the following recording 1/2 hr later was successful.

@Jakesty, have you solved the problem? If yes, how? Smile

I can't answer that since I'm really still just testing and the only occurrence happened just the one time. But it was at a wake up I believe.

If you think it could be a Computer Wakeup Problem rather than a NPVR problem (Quite likely) For Vista or W7 http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/63567-...blems.html has some very useful advise. I think it was disabling PCIE selective suspend that helped with my setup but all the info is good.

I did some experiments with the power settings from the link, unfortunately no change. I tried a wakeup.bat with the following content:

net stop "NPVR Recording Service"
net start "NPVR Recording Service"

but the NPVR couldn't connect to the recording service

But when I right click the tray symbol and choose restart recording service, it works. Is there a command line option for the restart recording service?

From you description, it sounds like a driver bug.

You could try this patch though. It will terminate NDigitalHost.exe when it detects the machine waking, forcing it to relaunch it next time it's required.

Johnsonx42, dont add this one to the sticky list of patches - I'd rather most people dont get this file. It's likely to trigger the issue we saw in the past with not running for lots of people until they tell Window's to trust the file (which was an executable extracted from a zip file downloaded form the internet).
