PC Wakes up for cancelled recording?

I did a brief search for this and didn't find anything offhand.

I can't confirm positively but have folks seen the case where scheduled recording that is cancelled, still ends up waking a PC in standby mode? I would have thought that if I cancelled an upcoming recording, then my PC went into standy/sleep. It should not wake up for that scheduled recording?

Does NEXTPVR on a cancelled recording end up reverting some Windows entry to remove the scheduled tasks? I'm running Windows 7 and couldn't seem to find any Next PVR schedule recording tasks. But I don't know how it works for NExtPRVR to wake up a PC for scheduled recording events.

Sorry I don't have an exact logs; but if it should not do this or not a known issue, then I'll plan on trying to reproduce and provide logs.

This is with NextPVR 2.4.3 on Windows 7 64bit.

Thanks.

It should do.

In nrecord.log, you should see messages saying "Requesting wake up for '....' at '....'" when a recording is scheduled, and "Cancelling wake up request for '....'" if a recording is cancelled.

I've seen this as well. Only a minor annoyance as my PC is set up to go back to sleep 5 minutes later.

5 minutes is quick. I set mine to 25 minutes. But still having it fire up at times can be bother to do no recording only to sleep back after N minutes. I'll check to see if there is a pattern that might provide more detail and will check the logs for Cancelling wake up.

Is there a location in Windows where I should expect to see a list of N recordings setup by NextPVR? Something viewable in Scheduled tasks or somewhere in the registry?

The only place they show up is in the logs.

I seem to remember their was a command line utility that could show the list of windows wakeup events scheduled, but I cant remember the name of it right now.

ISTR having to restart the recording service to clear out cancelled recordings from the Windows wakeup list.

This one? (W7 only)

Code:
C:\Windows\System32>powercfg -waketimers

perhaps there is a bug when NRecord reloads the recording schedule and sends windows all the wakeup requests, it doesn't clear the existing wakeup requests first?

I've double checked the code, and I dont think that is the issue. I can see there is potentially an issue in this area if the OID of the recording has changed since the wake was originally requested, but I've added some protection for that in the next build.

Thanks for tips on powercfg and checking the code. I'll keep my eye out if I see it again and find any pattern.

I don't know if I have case of this. Time has passed to see if my PC wakes up before I've posted this. But I'm basing it on the powercfg -waketimers listings. Hopefully not jumping the gun.

- Had planned to recording somehting at 5/30 12:34 AM - Jimmy Fallon
- In W7, got a powercfg listing (7 entries)
- Decide to cancel that entry from the UI -> Pending Recordings View -> Selected the entry and cancelled it.
- Cancelled it.
- Got another powercfg listing (see the 5/30 12:34 AM wake time entry) still (7 entries total)
- at 9.00 PM PST get another powercfg listing (7 entries) - still see the entry:

Timer set by [SERVICE] \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NRecord.exe (NPVR Recording Service) expires at 12:34:30 AM on 5/30/2012.

- CHeck npvr.log see entry that it's cancelled

Here is some snippet of powercfg and nrecord.log

Code:
C:\Windows\system32\ >
> powercfg -waketimers

So I'm wondering if at 5/30 12:34 AM my PC will wake up based on the powercfg listing.
- Is the recording time something interesting or the cancelling via the "Pending Recordings" view anything. Anyway just wanting to help.
