I am posting to chime in about the Hippo remote app for iOS devices, as a previous post briefly mentioned. It is pretty easy to set up. Once you get the Hippo connection working, which is fairly straightforward, you can customize the app from your iOS device. There is a profile for Windows Media Center that can be copied and renamed. The relevant icons and functions are already there, plus the app is highly customizable. You just need to remap the functions for the existing icons to match the keyboard commands for gbpvr. I left almost all of the included functions intact, but added a button to adjust the screen ratio, using an appropriate icon that was included in the app. It took me less than an hour to set up, futz around, and customize. I have an ATI Remote Wonder Plus, and a Dinovo Mini with all sorts of convoluted tweaks to make them work as well as possible. They never worked well enough, but this app on my iPod Touch is the best way yet I've found to take full control of gbpvr (in my case pvrx2).

Sub, have you thought anymore about this? I still am looking at a way to hook into the http listener and notify somehow to enter key strokes into the base or active plugin. I started another discussion here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...-framework but much of this depends on your "maybe".

To be honest, I haven't thought about it at all.

You can probably already achieve it from a plugin though. It'd use some sort of listener (http or tcp or something), when it gets a key across the network it could post it on applications input queue. You can get the open Forms using reflection, giving you a place to post those keypress messages.

The built in web server would be no use to you since it doesnt have any mechanism to send messages to client processes. Instead you'd fire up your own listener from a plugin (which is already running in the correct process).

Ok, I hoped to avoid yet another listener, and I thought there might be a mechanism that you would allow you to do this since /touch/client.html does appear to talk to the base of NextPVR.

Unfortunately there is no communication mechanism that goes from server to clients.

The client.html is quite specific and couldn't be used for this. It relies on the fact the web server started the nextpvr.exe process used for this, and that it runs in the same desktop session as the recording service. It just uses a PostMessage 0x8007 command to send keystrokes. This the same old message that lots of people use from their remote control from HIP / EventGhost etc.

mvallevand,
since you come from STV, are you talking about something like the webremote that in the webserver for sage along with the mobile version and so forth?

If next PVR doesn't have this maybe you can work on a complete interface like that, as I use it a lot!

Yes I'd like something to have similar capabilities, with more hooks into what NextPVR is doing then a simple remote control would have.

SUB, i hope you can somehow look into something like this to enable such features is usually preferred to having to run and external app that is not part of the a pvr system. I would love to see this as I am looking to replace my STV system, but WAF is a big factor and thats why I have came here to see if it might fit most of the needs i have.

I say most because i know NPVR is not STV. I evaluated GBPVR and MediaPortal along with STV about 4 years ago and STV won out because of the architecture and how stable it was and the STP-HD200's fit the bill along with the STV Server. Now that we can't get any more licenses, well you know the rest of the story.

In anycase right now NPVR looks to be the best option. I think there will be more people like me coming by your site.
