I was recently away overseas and thought I'd give streaming a try.

I had VLC 1.11 and got a fuzzy picture, but then I upgraded to VLC 2.01 and got nothing???
I can get it to launch VLC holding shoft down, and an orange progress bar flashes across the bottom of the VLC Player Window, then nothing happens?

I have port 7648 forwarded too, in my router ...

I tried both WMP and VLC (latest).

I checked the backslash in the server path as per this post
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post430092

I also did the "tools, prefs, all, search for auto re, checked auto re-correct" thingy I saw in another thread when searching for help on streaming.

Anything in the logs that can you help you figure out the issue, or other tests I need to do ?

I also thought that streaming streamed the already recorded file, but my peek at the logs suggests that it doesn't matter what show you stream, it reverts to the LIVE channel every time (at least in the classic non CSS version of NEWA I am using).

- Download I am clear on
- Play Program I eventually got to work only with Media Player Classic Home by holding the Shift key so it doesn't download the m3u file (but oddly the progress indicator does not move along)
- But Stream?

Attached logs with a couple of separate tries (am I missing any patches?)

Thanks!

k.

What is your upstream bitrate from your ISP?

What file format are you trying to stream? (file extension)
What do you have the Player options set to? (screen shot)
What do you have the transcode options set to? (screen shot)

This is what I have set....

1. Speed

Quote:From NETVIGATOR servers to customers' computers, NETVIGATOR network offers a maximum downstream speed of up to:
1.5Mbps/3Mbps/6Mbps/8Mbps/18Mbps/30Mbps/100Mbps/200Mbps/300Mbps/500Mbps/1000Mbps,
and a maximum upstream speed of up to
640Kbps/640Kbps/640Kbps/800Kbps/1Mbps/10Mbps/100Mbps/200Mbps/300Mbps/500Mbps/1000Mbps, subject to which service plan that customer is

subscribing.)

I am using 6MPbps dowwload (cannot get faster in my area) so corresponding uploads are 640kbps.

2. File Type: .ts files

3. Player Opts: Refer attached

4. Sorry UJB, I cannot see your screen clips ? Says Domain unregistered and shows me a frozen frog ...

Re-applied my images locally.....can you see them now? if so, give the settings I have a try. what is you up speed? For streaming that is key to a good stream. Down is only important on the client.

Will try and get back to you, thanks UJB

Download speed as above, i.e. " ....so corresponding uploads are 640kbps..."
However, I can try to test it if that helps?

your upload speed may hinder the ability to stream....you'll have to test. If you are streaming outside your network you are going to be limited to your available up speed to push the video out.....you would need to bump down the video bitrate to something your external bandwidth can handle.

Let me know how you make out.

OK, UJB, thanks for the follow up!
I changd to your settings, (LAN seemed a bit optimistic?) and got this in VLC

Local

"Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://smurfpc:7648'. Check the log for details."

From Outside

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://xxMYDYNDSIPxxx.com:7648'. Check the log for details.

I tried turning on VLC log in the VLC settings but it didn't produce a log.
NPVR weblogs showed thesettings were applied ??

Try accessing locally on the server itself....start the stream on the server via newa and then open it as well on the server to see if you can get to in the same machine.....
