Well, looks like Viacom is playing games again with our programming prices...
So DirecTV yanked Comedy channel from DTV, along with a few other channels...i'm pissed!

EDIT: Spike and all MTV/VH1's and TVLand....Geez people..went thru this a couple of times with stupid Dish too..

I hope it all blows up in ALL their faces...greedy a-holes!

Another Vote for AlaCarte programming from me!
[picking n paying only the channels you want, not junk they FORCE you to buy!]

Whatever happened to free markets deciding what costs what?

I've been reading about this and it is quite a battle. Jon Stewart was even pulled from the Viacom web servers just so DTV users can't get it.

Our main cable and satellite providers play games like this. Just this week we got Space! the Canadian equivalent of ScFy in HD talks have been going on since January.

It's a mess everywhere. Our local cable co, Insight, stopped carrying our local CBS affiliate WLKY since the two couldn't come to an agreement. (An email from Insight claims WLKY wanted a 300% increase in revenue). Now Insight is carrying a CBS network feed from New York instead... sheesh.

It won't be long and I don't think they'll be any free tv except for government crap. The internet is already ceasing to be free. Even in non capitalistic China, they make money on tv and internet.
OK, off my soapbox but we have no competition in my area for cable, just 1 company. We can get any satellite service but it sucks here due to constant weather changes. I've seen neighbors pissed at cable and switch to satellite only to switch back weeks or months later.
So, we will see prices continue to rise and likely get less for it.

I heard nick JR & Sprout were out for a little also?

I got rid of DirecTV.
I was a customer for close to 7 yrs & when I got my plasma and wanted to upgrade my tivo they told me to cough up a few hundred dollars & wanted to charge me extra for HD.
Yet, new customer's get all that & more for free +free HD for life.

Screw that.
I subscribed to HULU+ & Netflix & got a bigazz antenna.
Plus I can just goto most networks websites & watch the most recent shows so I'm really not missing anything.

I don't even really watch that much TV anymore.

Of course now i've heard rumblings of possible bandwidth caps for those who skip cable subscriptions alltogether for things like Netflic & hulu.

This!!!!!
I wish I could force my customers to spend a certain amount with me every month. Heck, I just wish I could charge for my time. I answer so many questions before I even get an order and there's no guarantee they'll buy from me.
To think they sell you internet and then would charge you because you're also not buying something else they sell, is ridiculous. But, it is happening every day.
They have us by our nads!
