I set NPVR to record A Bugs Life @ 1900, 15th August.
However, it missed the first hour.
Looking at the log, it didn't set a valid wakeup.
Any suggestions as to why?

The current list of wakeups looks fine - it matches the pending recordings.

Code:

you'd have to ask windows why it didn't wake up. the wakeup request for bugs life was properly requested for 6:57pm, however the system slept through it until it woke for some other recording at 7:56pm (maybe it was really tired and kept hitting Snooze?). you bolded the wrong wakeup request by the way.

I have had this happen on a few occasions and traced it to the fact that Windows was entering "Sleep" when the wakeup was due. I know from my desktop computer that you cannot Wake it while it is in the process of going into sleep but have to wait until it is fully asleep before it responds to a wakeup in this case from keyboard or mouse.

Mmm. PC is set to sleep after 1 hour. It would be a coincidence if I just happened to stop at 17:57. (Pause)
OK, I checked the event log, there is an entry at 18:57 saying the system is Entering Sleep for System Idle reasons.
Looks like you were right.

Sub, its an unlikely problem, but could we schedule two wakeups, a few minutes apart?

One wonders why Windows is so stupid that it would go to sleep at the same time a wakeup is scheduled... shouldn't the power management code check that there are no wakeups scheduled in the next 5-10 minutes before sleeping? And this is Windows 7 too; I might be more understanding of such oversights in Windows 2000 or maybe even XP, but it seems ridiculous to find this in Windows 7 (SP1 even!). I wonder if Windows 8 has the same bug? Probably does...

As Nistrod suggests, having 2 wakeups for each recording would be the only way to work around this. Seems a little silly to have to do it though...

I changed to "Hibernate" for a while last year and because it takes much longer to get into that mode I missed several "Wakeups" so switched back to "Sleep". I just checked my NextPVR Vista server which took 5 seconds to "Sleep" but my desktop PC took 28 seconds which seems excessive! A second wakeup a bit later was something I was going to suggest but had not bothered as the problem happens so infrequently. I suppose so few Windows users use scheduled wakeup that the occasional missed wakeup may not have been reported.

I'm using 2.5.5 with Windows 7 and my PC doesn't wake up for scheduled recordings. I didn't have that problem with previous versions of NPVR. Any idea how I can make my PC wake up for scheduled recordings?

Nothing has changed in NPVR 2.5.5 in that regard; it just asks Windows to wake up at specified times, and depends on Windows to do it's job.

You can post your logs so that we can verify the wakeup requests are being scheduled.

I never really used this feature before 2.5.5 but it has been waking up flawlessly for me.
