Hi guys,

Sorry if this has been asked already, I couldn't see it anywhere.

I have a dual DVB-T card and I get my EPG data from the stations.
After I do an EPG Update I get about 1-2 weeks of guide on each channel.

But I'll quit NPVR and start it again an hour or 2 later and I'll get channels with missing data again.

I'm missing recordings because of this as well.

Any idea why this is happening?

Cheers, Phil.

You would need to zip and post your logs.

Quite a few people have reported this happening occasionally including me but there has not been a definite solution. I think some people found running the epg update a few hours later helped. I found that disabling the overnight update and running NextPVR.exe -updateepgonly a bit later at 6am solved my problem. However I am now using EPG Collector which reads the same broadcast EPG data and puts it in an XML file to load into NextPVR. It seems to read the data differently spending a long time reading the first MUX, far longer than NextPVR then briefly looks at the rest of the MUXs. For me it happened for 2 or 3 days in a row then not again for quite a few weeks but have not seen the problem when using “–updateepgonly “ or EPG Collector.

I think it was also reported that unchecking "use out-of-process digital recording" helped with this issue.

I have similar issues with EPG data. Updating EPG does fill the EPG with 3 days worth of data (the maximum my provider supplies). Then when the Update EPG feature wakes the pc at 2 am it scans the channels producing the following logging:

Code:
2012-08-29 02:16:33.656     [DEBUG][8]     - saving 1 listings for channel: Nederland 1 HD
2012-08-29 02:16:33.656     [DEBUG][8]     - saving 1 listings for channel: Nederland 2 HD
2012-08-29 02:16:33.656     [DEBUG][8]     - saving 7 listings for channel: 24 Kitchen
2012-08-29 02:16:33.656     [DEBUG][8]     - saving 9 listings for channel: Disney XD 24
2012-08-29 02:16:33.656     [DEBUG][8]     - saving 11 listings for channel: Disney Channel
2012-08-29 02:16:33.656     [DEBUG][8]     - saving 5 listings for channel: RTL 7 HD
2012-08-29 02:16:33.656     [DEBUG][8]     Deleting old listings from Channel OID: 7186 (Nederland 1 HD)
2012-08-29 02:16:35.326     [DEBUG][8]     StopStream

I'm wondering, is 1 listing for channel "Nederland 1 HD" a good thing? what is a listing? is it one program or more because there should be more than one program in the epg for that channel.

The next day my EPG is empty and my scheduled recordings are deleted:

Code:

Does this patch still apply? http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...post394223

I just installed the cummalative patch for version 2.55. I hope that will help but this particular problem is not mentioned in the fixed issues...

The cummalative patch for version 2.55 seems to have done the job!

I'm not an native english speaker. And the spell checker on this forum uses my own language for some reason. What I meant was "cumulative"

Still curious what the concept "listing" is though (from the logging "saving 1 listings for channel: Nederland 1 HD"). Could you explain?

Sorry, I knew you weren't a native english speaker, wasn't meaning to give you a hard time. I'm going to delete my original comment anyway, it was rather too juvenile to preserve (it's the sort of thing that comes to my mind late at night... now in the light of day it's less amusing).

Regarding "saving 1 listings for channel: Nederland 1 HD" that literally means that during the EPG update it found 1 single show. So the log you listed showing 1 listing, 5 listings, 7 listings, etc. was bad for all the channels, only a few hours worth of EPG at the most. (obviously sub's answer is better than mine on this. I answered based on my knowledge of SchedulesDirect and XMLTV epg updates. I almost always forget that things work differently elsewhere)

A listing in this log message is a "new listing". It may have found a thousand other listings that were already in the database.

Try disabling the "use out-of-process digital recording" setting. Also disable the 'update dvb epg during live tv' setting. Then do an 'empty epg' followed by an 'update epg', then hopefully it'll sort itself out.
