Hi,

I am having a problem with the auto epg update, in the fact that it wont wake the computer to do it. I have the box checked, and the computer ALWAYS wakes to record programs, but I have to manually update the epg to get new programming.

I am hoping someone might be able to help with this.

Thank You
Mike

I have had the same problem for as long as I can remember (see this thread here).

What I discovered is that my system actually *does* wake up when it is time to do an EPG update - the actual problem is that the EPG update is not being performed. However, if the system is already awake (for example, because there is a recording scheduled), then the EPG update works.

So, I suggest you set up the EPG update time and then watch to see if your system wakes and then returns to sleep without doing the update. This may help flush out the source of the problem. My guess is that there is something different in the way GBPVR schedules a program recording via the ACPI vs. how the EPG update is scheduled - perhaps having to do with user or permission parameters.

Regardless, I'd sure like to figure out why this is happening.

I suspect your machine is being woken, but is going back to sleep before the actual update occurs.

Hmm - I will try and change the time it updates to a time when I am here. I was having mine do it at around 3AM also Smile Maybe i ran into the site being down also.

Thanx for the tips

How long is the inactivity period you have configured you machine for, before it will automatically go to sleep? If its less than about 15 minutes, then it may miss the EPG update.

I gues it figures.... the default is 3AM and if everyone updates at that time the service will take much longer to access and even server denial might occur.

I am having the exact same problem. GBPVR will wake the machine for a scheduled recording, but won't wake it for EPG update. I'm sleeping my machine in the S3 standby state.

It's not a matter of the machine waking up and going back to sleep before the update -- it doesn't wake at all.

Yes, after some testing - my never wakes up either - no matter what time i set it for. It will wake up and record, but it will NEVER wake up to get a epg update..Sad will have to see about the config.xml file thingy someone said about - yes that is technical language :p

I tried the config.xml fix, but my file already had the correct entry.

Any ideas, Sub?
