We've been doing a lot of recordings with the HD-PVRs, and we've noticed that once in awhile we get a recording that plays, but is just a black screen and no audio.

The time look looks fine, even the comskip breaks are there and accurate.

The .ts can be played with VLC and looks great.

I attached my logs and the recording in question was the last thing played and is called The Voice.

Thanks,

You might need to cut (using cutchunk) a small 20-50MB sample .ts off the front of one of these so I can try playing it here.

If you play that file, does it give you a black screen like the original file?

Yes, black screen when played back from Recordings. I have video and audio with VLC.

It looks like a big chunk of that file at the beginning is garbage. I'm not really sure what to suggest for this. This garbage must have been something the HDPVR delivered.

On one hand - okay, I kind of figured that. I can run it through any number of things to clean it, or edit the .edl and skip it.

On the other hand - VLC handled it. Why can't NextPVR?

The Microsoft MPEG2 Demultiplexer doesn't appear to like being feed this garbage, and just chokes.
