Some channels playing/recording chippy and pixelated

Title pretty much says it all... previously working installation on Win7 64. But just recently, some channels have begun playing (Live TV) and recording choppy and pixelated, whereas others are just fine.
Haven't changed any hardware or settings. I did recently installed the 2.5.5 update... don't know if that's coincidence or not.

Can you post a screenshot of this pixelated look?
It most likely one of two things. - either a playback problem, caused by faulty decoders - or a capture problem, caused by poor reception of a digital device. If you see the pixellated problem in a recording in NextPVR, try playing it in a different player, like VLC, and if you see the problem there, then it sounds like reception issues so broken data being delivered from the capture device.

I've attached a couple of screen captures.
I tried playing one of the pixelated recordings in Windows Media Player and it played back exactly as it does in NPVR. When I have time, I'll hook the cable up directly to the TV and see if I'm getting clean reception. Thank you for your help.

You don't say where you are, but quite often here in the autumn we get co-channel interference which will cause similar problems.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives

(It's still bad on my PC.) Can you confirm for me that there is no possibility of any settings in NPVR being the cause of this? I assume the next likely culprit is my tuner card (a Hauppage HVR-2250, which I thought was a quality card).

Because the hvr-2250 is dual tuner there's a split so you have already cut a few db off so you do need a good signal to use it.

NextPVR just dumps a copy of everything it gets from the digital tuner. You could try some other software, like the Hauppauge WinTV software or MCE, to see if you get the same problem there.

Thank you sub and Martin. The thing that's sticking in my craw about this whole thing is I've been using NPVR for quite some time with this same signal source and PC/tuner hardware with no problem. Suddenly, out of the blue, when we went to watch Modern Family earlier this week, ABC is coming in all garbled up. I guess I can only assume my cable company changed the quality or level of their signal or something?
