reven Wrote:just need an example of a ui for this. something simple and not to complicated. probably will only let you copy to a one directory, onscreen keyboard asks for subdirectory name, then all the contents of that folder/memory card is copied to that new folder, sound about right? (accessible via a popup menu similiar to my videos)..

Yeah, that sounds about right. I guess it should be a "universal" function. accessable from the "my pictures" menu. Ability to copy from any entry in the virtual root (CD, Mem Card) to a pre selected "dump" folder. Like My Pictures. I woudn't think you need it to copy FROM an HD. Were you thinking it would automaticly ask to copy when you access any memory card?

So guess I would also ask for a new "drive type" for memory card's. Right now we have ,DIR, HHD, or DVD right? I assume this was already on the list.

It might be nice to have a progress meeter, for the copy progress. Either the current pic or the whole process, or at least the word "copying" on the screen. Just an indicated to let us know the the system didn't freeze.

I'm going to be copying from my LRPC (Living Room PC) to another drive on my network. I'm not sure if that's a consideration. (Generally I just add my network paths in the config.XML).

reven Wrote:this is the reason im redoing the entire plugin, memory issues. all my pics are like 200kb max, so im going to need people to test a beta with large pics.

I would love to test when your ready. I have pic's from 3 cameras, 1.4mp, 3.1mp, and 6.1mp.

Thanks for even considering adding this. I use WIN2K for my GBPVR so I dont have the nice WindowsXP Photo Video wizard. This function would give me on less reason to go down to the basement(where my Photo/Video computer is located)

I also would like something that works well with larger pics. I have about 6000 ordered by year, then month/day taken. The older ones are 1.3, then 4, then 5 mp.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

i was thinking that when you pushed "go" (the to bring up a popup menu) on a folder/memory card/hdd/dvd (any storage device really, i wouldnt recommend doing this on a hdd) that a button say "Copy" would then copy all the items in that storage location, eg in the folder or memory card (include subfolders etc, i might make it just copy images, i might copy the entire thing.. something i should think about),

yeah ive been thinking of adding this fora while, just never got around to it.

there will be at the very least a message box, and the current file being copied, ill look into some kind of progress bar (it will take awhile for the progress bar to show up, needs to count the number of files etc, same reason why it takes windows explorer a little while for their progress bar to show up).

yeah ive got six photos in total Smile

oh and you can already adjust for the aspect ratio, i added this the last update or the one before that. in the next version im probably going to do a "settings" button which shows a popop menu with a few settings like "slide show interval" aspect ratio correction (a slide bar from 0% to 200%, 100% = normal size) and a few more settings, just makes it easier than going to the config for little stuff.

Just images would work for me. But I'll have to map the "go" button to my One-For-All remote. I dont use it very much.

Great!!

If a progress bar is to much work just go the easy route. I'm happy with the word "copying" and the file name.

If that's all you have, why did you create the "My Pictures" in the first place Smile

Please don't lose the Playlists function. I like it and its good.

What would be very cool would be to have a picture slideshow start automatically (with no further button presses) after I've started a playlist in My Music, then as each new track starts the track name is displayed as part of the slideshow in some way? Either as a text block on the bottom of the screen or as in between the pictures?

I could elaborate some more if you want to implement this.

ok ill keep the playlist feature, i just wasnt sure if anyone used this. im might change how it works thou.
options.
1) when you start a slide show (either via the slide show button or pushing play whilst in the filelist (not fullscreen)) a window will appear with all available playlists for you to choose (an "No Playlist" option will be the very first option, incase you dont want music).
2) it will either play a default playlist, or will play the first found .m3u playlist in the current directory
3) none, could only think of two options Smile i dont like how it works now, having to first start a playlist then go to slideshow.

and ill probably do an onscreen display showing album art and current track info, its a nice feature. so good thinking, you get a cookie Smile

I like option 1 the best, as its as simple as possible. If you can, it might be worth only having the window with the playlists in it up for 5 seconds, so people who don't want music don't need to push any more buttons.

I'll have a play with the current My Pictures tonight to see if I can think of any other options for you Smile

Hi, i just read the thread and thought about some of the things mentioned:

- I like the idea of autoplaying a playlist found in the image dir. That would make another playlist function useless for me.

- Read about the rotate function and thought if it would be possible to do an automatical rotate (just for display) of jpg images according to their rotation info found in the EXIF info. I just have to many images from my Digicam which are not rotated correctly but that have the info in the EXIF Data.

- And then one more general thing. You said something about a complete redesign of the skin.xml files. Could you insert a possibiliy to deactivate some of the buttons, that can not be used if you have your PC in another room than your TV set (like all the ripping buttons in the myMusic and MyVideo plugins) or for someone like me who is just not interested in using them.

And then i read about the memory problems, i hope you find a way to fix these. I also have the problems with my bigger pictures.
