I'm looking to move to NextPVR as the backend for my XBMC installation. Is there a way to create a recurring recording without first finding the show in the EPG? I'd like to pre-create my recurring recordings before moving my tuners from FTR to minimize the risk of missing recordings and making the wife and kids angry.

You can create manual rules, and NEWA will allow saved searches too but it probably is worth waiting for EPG data. The import utility from ftr that I am working on will do that in a rough way already, I just don't have the recordings coming in from the db file.

Ah, I just thought the import would get my recording history not the recurring schedules themselves. This sounds awesome.

I'm getting close to moving forward manually with recurring recordings, but I've run into a problem. When creating recurring recordings from the EPG is there any way to set it up to record any time, any channel, any day as long as the title is an exact match?

Yes, when scheduling it from NextPVR's TV Guide screen, double click (or press enter) on an airing of that show, select "Record' and change the "Recording Type" to "Record All Episodes, All Channels".

But that is still limited to a particular start and end time. I don't want to limit even the time.

no, that option literally means ALL episodes, ALL channels, regardless of time. It is true that if you go look at the recurring recording after creating it there will appear to be a time slot defined, but that type of recording ignores the time.

OK the interface confused me exactly as you described. That should be all I need to make the change tomorrow.

that's on my list of things to bug sub about one of these days. for recurring recording types that are not limited by time slot, it shouldn't display the times at all.

@ toricred My import utility does this for you, and it adds support to not record duplicates from your ftr history too. It should be ready to test tomorrow if you are interested.
