Sub,

I am planning on having guidePlus insert the season episode numbers in the guide XML. What syntax should the XML tags have so NPVR recognizes them correctly?

Thanks,

My xmltv file includes this and NPVR updates the epg-event table correctly ...
Quote:<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">4.6/25.</episode-num>

What does the 4.6/25. mean? Season 4 episode 6 / 25 episode in total? And does the trailing . after 25 mean anything?

Thanks

Finally found a description buried several pages down in google search, in case this is useful to anyone else. The example above does seem to fit the syntax "<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">4.6/25.</episode-num> " which would mean season 5 episode 7 of 25. IMO the syntax is a bit nutty since it starts with 0 or 0 can be "I don't know" but the number after the slash starts at 1.

Quote:xmltv_ns: This is intended to be a general way to number episodes and parts of multi-part episodes. It is three numbers separated by dots, the first is the series or season, the second the episode number within that series, and the third the part number, if the programme is part of a two-parter. All these numbers are indexed from zero, and they can be given in the form 'X/Y' to show series X out of Y series made, or episode X out of Y episodes in this series, or part X of a Y-part episode. If any of these aren't known they can be omitted. You can put spaces whereever you like to make things easier to read.

Some examples will make things clearer. The first episode of the second series is '1.0.0/1' . If it were a two-part episode, then the first half would be '1.0.0/2' and the second half '1.0.1/2'. If you know that an episode is from the first season, but you don't know which episode it is or whether it is part of a multiparter, you could give the episode-num as '0..'. Here the second and third numbers have been omitted. If you know that this is the first part of a three-part episode, which is the last episode of the first series of thirteen, its number would be '0 . 12/13 . 0/3'. The series number is just '0' because you don't know how many series there are in total - perhaps the show is still being made!

Ok I am generating this:
<programme start="20121105190000 -0600" stop="20121105200000 -0600" channel="I20361.labs.zap2it.com">
<title lang="en">Bones*</title>
<sub-title lang="en">s08e05.The Method in the Madness</sub-title>
<desc lang="en">2012-11-05: The team investigates the death of a woman whose body was found in the trash; Booth invites Sweets to stay with him and Brennan until he finds a new place.</desc>
<episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00754201.0190</episode-num>
<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">7.4</episode-num> (also tried >7.4.<)
<date>20121105</date>
<category lang="en">Crime drama</category>
<category lang="en">Mystery</category>
<category lang="en">Medical</category>
<category lang="en">Series</category>
</programme>
Yet the database shows zeros in the epg_event season and episode field. Am I missing a setting?

In that second number, I think you need to the format shown in the earlier example, which includes the number of episodes in the season. ie "4.6/25." season 4, episode 6 of 25.

For me from Schedules Direct it has always seems to use the last four digits of the unique id >EP00754201.0190< as the season episode. This is a actually a sequential production number.

Got it to work by adding /0 since you don't always know how many episodes are out there in a current season. To get the season episode number I use a variety of ways starting with schedules direct if possible.
