Yes but there is a design flaw in the release code that I've fixed, for the next update. I don't have the code in front of me but in details.py the line that converts from
Windows to linux naming you need to also add the smb protocol ie url = 'smb:' + url.replace('\\','/')

Thanks. Sounds like I could also do a UNC path substitution here for the local recording path specific for my setup too.

Yes x-newa respects advancedsettings.xml, and you could substitute //ip/ to smb://ip/ or //netbiosname/ smb://ip/ etc.

I played an in-progress recording from my Pivos XIOS just by navigating to the folder I store recordings in (which is a shared Windows directory). When I started it, it had completed about 75% of the recording. When I reached that point, playback stopped. I basically had to restart the show and fast forward to where I was previously. The rest of the show played fine.

From reading above, it sounds like this isn't supposed to happen when using Samba. Is that correct? Did I do something wrong?

How xbmc handles growing files varies based on the client and also version. There is no one answer except none do it extremely well, I find Windows PC client probably is best. For the xios if you play via x-newa, it does set the nextpvr resume position so you don't have to fast forward.

Excellent, thanks for the info Martin. I did have decent luck with this on my Windows machine and will test on the Xios tomorrow night. Hopefully this can be improved now that PVR is an officially supported function, because in-progress recordings are the only thing I use this for...

Good luck hopefully the resume will help a bit. Unfortunately the Pivos XIOS still doesn't support full XBMC PVR addons yet. Quite a few requests have been made, but there really isn't a a solid guarantee at this point http://www.pivosforums.com/viewtopic.php...1&start=23

But just to be clear, the NPVR addon has the same issue, doesn't it?
