In other words, there is no point whatsoever to move to W8 and a lot of good reasons to stay on W7

I've moved one system to W8 and so far, no problems I couldn't get passed. It is faster but other than video work, there are some things I don't like. You really can't have more than 2 windows open so why do they even call it Windows?
I'm using Start8 which is a bit better with getting around. But, I didn't pay for it since I'm on TechNet but if I had to, I would not have changed. W7 just works. Paul Custom ASUS Maximus X Hero, 16 GB Memory-ASUS GeForce 1050 Ti, H115i Pro AIO, 850W PS, CM H500P case, Corsair Vengeance RGB Ram, Samsung 970 EVO, HDHomerun Prime & Extend Tuners- running Windows 10 (and other goodies)

I actually payed extra for the Win8PRO license because I think it will let me downgrade to Win7 if I really couldn't get it working....Other than that I see no reason to pay extra for PRO for home use.
Different issue. NPVR resume an already partially viewed TV recording isn't working. NPVR doesn't seem to know it is partially viewed. My older rig (with an older version of NPVR) has a little check mark on the green icon if its partially viewed. I'm not getting those now, and no resume is offered. Is this because of my choice of decoder? I copied a bunch of config files from my older rig over and let the current version of NPVR install on top of them (The \public\npvr\ directory). Could this have caused an issue? I did that because I'm reusing all the tuner hardware so that portion worked great.

I don't see any of the codec exposed to NPVR. Did you so something special to get them exposed?

If so search the forum for my post explaining how to keep PDVD12 after the trial is expired. "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy"

However for the last couple of years I have used SAF without any problems that either Hoborg or myself could not sort out. Admittedly there are quite a few changes to the standard settings that I use and it is a pain in the butt every time that an update comes out to reset them all back - regfiles help a bit - but it does appear to be the best solution for NPVR or Mediaportal if you don't want to roll your own!
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives

That's weird double post without a warning - never done that to me before!
