I've been using NPVR for some time but have just started playing with XBMC. The problem I have is that when I change channels, it doesn't work properly. Steps are as follows :

  1. I select a channel via the Channel list. After about 10-15 seconds, the channel loads correctly.
  2. I press stop to stop viewing and return to the channel list.
  3. I then select a different channel via the channel list.
  4. After about 20-30 seconds, it says " buffering" and it says its about about 10%. Bur it never goes any further. If i try to stop it before the buffering message, it freezes.
  5. I then press stop and then select the same channel again. It normally works second time.

Both products are on the same PC and both have been loaded with the latest releases / patches. I have also tried older versions of XBMC and the addon.

I also have XBMC On my iPad and that has a similar problem.

I don't get problems with NPVR.

I will add my logs from both tools shortly.

One more thing to add, it does create a file in the buffer folder and i was able to view that file while it was being created.

Same thing still happening with the XBMC nightly from 12/15 with the updated NextPVR plugin (1.6.1.0).

I've have not tried for a while but I reported problems changing channel using live tv from the beginning. It seems much worse with analog devices. It will actually froze XBMC when I use my HDPVR and it wasn't worth resetting my recording service frequently so I just stop and select another channel.

I've had this occur with Frodo betas 1 and 2, a couple nightlies, and an openelec (3.0 beta - 2.95.2) installation so far.

I could only consistently get a channel change by using stop, changing to a different channel in the guide, and tuning the new channel. I tried 4 or 5 times to simply change the channel during live tv, but each one was met with endless buffering as described above (to which I handily used alt+F4 and restarted xbmc altogether)

Not much to add - just having the same problem. Impossible to change channels, endless buffering, etc.

Make sure you have the latest NextPVR patches installed, then reproduce the problem and post the web.log and xbmc.log, then I'll take a look.

I was having the same problem as you guys, but I think I finally found the right combination. Channel switching times are now consistently less than 5 seconds, and that is acceptable for me. I zipped up the patches I am using and linked to the XBMC nightly build I am using here.
