Last night we were watching a couple recordings in progress. A few times, at some random point, the playback stopped unexpectedly and we were returned to the list or recordings. When we went to playback again, there was no 'Resume' option and playback started from the beginning. This is while doing Transport Stream recordings from OTA.

I have not seen this behavior with completed recordings leading me to believe that this a 'recording in progress' issue.

Has anyone seen this behavior?

Thanks, MIKE

My wife has complained about this recently, but unfortunately I've never had time to capture the logs. She also mentioned that it often freezes when skipping ahead during an in progress recording. I'll try to reproduce the problem and post the logs.
Note: I'm using the most recent release and applied the R2 patches.

Thanks - A fellow Canadian... I am also using the most recent release with the R2 patches. My wife is also the one who pointed this out Wink

Does it only happen when you are within about a minute of catching up to "live" or does it happen at any point?

Also, logs would help.

If it did occur within about a minute of catching up to "live", would that be a known issue?

I will try to spend some time duplicating the scenario over the weekend to confirm and upload logs.

Thanks, MIKE

Not so much a known issue as an educated guess. The file reader is probably getting starved for data in the buffer and assuming it's reached the end of the file. This would also explain why no resume point is stored since it thinks you watched the the end of the recording. I'm not sure if sub can create a patch for this or not (to maybe check if the file is still being recorded and prevent skipping past a certain point). A fix might have to wait until the next version. Only sub could determine that though.

I have a few examples with logs of several crashes while watching in progress recordings. The first log the video just stops while playing and npvr returns to video select screen. Second log npvr shuts down on a skip. Third one npvr freezes on a skip. Fourth one a skip moves the video a head 5 or 10 minutes (different client). fifth one npvr freezes and i'm not sure if the recording was still going or finished. Hope the logs can shed some light on what is going on.

My original thought was that this was just happening for recordings in progress. Tonight while watching a completed recording it happened several times.

The file we were watching was Once Upon a Time_20130120_20002100.ts

In each case the playback stopped unexpectedly and jumped back to the Recordings menu. When we played again, playback started from the beginning - there was no option to resume. Is there perhaps a buffer that can be increased, or something of that nature?

Log attached. Thanks for your help.

Is playback from the client actually buffered at all in order to compensate for momentary network glitches?

Watched another in progress recording. No crashes, but the skipping was very erratic. Sometimes skipping ahead big chunks. I did notice that on the time bar the length of the recording didn't count up as the recording progressed. Here is the log.
