I've had a few occasional problems recently with recordings on my HVR-1250 tuner, recording off the clear QAM channels on my cable system. Tonight is the first time it's happened that I noticed in time to capture the log files for it.

So, at 8pm it started recording Bones, but the file ends at around 8:20. It was supposed to continue to record The Following at 9pm on the same channel, but that file is 0 bytes. It then recorded Deception on a different channel properly at 10pm, and also the Late Show at 11:30pm.

Logs are attached. Thanks.

The ndigitalhost log contains lines like ...
Quote:2013-01-28 19:59:00.941 [DEBUG][14] locked=0, present=1, strength=41000, quality=30 (took 172ms to check)
A value of Quality=30 is low and suggests poor signal quality. Are there splitters on the input to the tuner? I dunno what might work on a US cable system ... I would expect problems on a UK OTA system with values less than Quality=80.

I have several splitters but an inline amp at the cable drop. Checked a bunch of recordings and the signal quality is always 100. Recordings never fail.

Yup, it's a signal problem. Quality should always be 100. You will notice that locked=0 (meaning it could not lock onto the channel) when the signal quality drops.

I was afraid of something like that. If anything, I have LESS splitters than before, having removed one recently. Now I need to figure out whether it is the signal coming in, or the card not picking it up properly.

Thanks everyone.
