So I purchased a Haupaugge HVR-950Q today and what a difference! I now receive all the same channels that I do with my SHARP Aquos TV Tuner. So either I have a defective HVR-2250 or the tuner isn't as good as the 950Q. Anyways, I just wanted to post this in case someone else has a similar issue in the future. I will call Hauppauge tech support to determine what the issue might be.

An HVR-2250 has an internal splitter to send the signal to both tuners, so there will be a bit of signal strength lost. However I really don't think it could be the difference between receiving almost no channels vs. all of your channels. Based on everything you've reported I have to believe that you do have a defective HVR-2250. I do have an HVR-2250 myself, but I have only ever used it with cable; with OTA my HVR-850 (essentially a QAM-less 950Q - even the drivers report it as 950Q, it just can't tune QAM) has proved itself slightly inferior to my HVR-1250 which has been displaced from my lone PCIe slot by the HVR-2250.
