How can I create the xml file with XMLTV for using the EPG? The content of the needed zip file (TV-Listings etc.) I have added to the folders. How can I make XMLTV create the data file?

Are you using XMLTV GUI to create the file? If so then you first need to go to settings and select a data source (Grabbers) and the channels you want listings for and also the location and name of the XML file you want to create. When you have done the settings you can "Grab Listings" to do a manual download. You then point NextPVR to use this XML file under "Settings" > "Channels" selecting XMLTV as the EPG source and select your XMLTV EPG file. If this all works then to automate the process you just need to run xmltvconsole.exe in a batch file and this uses all the settings you made in XMLTVGUI.

I am not sure that XMLTVGUI supports Germany.

Thank you, Chris.

<<<Are you using XMLTV GUI to create the file?
Yes, I am.

<<<If so then you first need to go to settings and select a data source (Grabbers) and the channels you want listings for and also the location and name of the XML file you want to create.
Sorry, I cannot find a grabber / data source there. In "Channels" you have to add a file that should be created by XMLTV, but there is no file created.

Thank you, Graham,

Yes, indeed, there is a lot you can find with Goolge (thank you for the links), but I do not understand how to set up this XMLTV thing, I cannot find information how to set it up (besides the one whereto to copy these folders of the zip file), I do not understand the whole thing at all.

Yes, XMLTV supports Germany.

Thanks again.

I have looked on the xmltv gui forum and I think you may be out of luck - the only reference to a German grabber was in 2009 and the link is dead Sad

You may be better off using this http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...pg-Grabber

New website http://webgrabplus.com/

At least they have ini files for 5 different German EPG sources.

If there is a full epg provided in the broadcast stream you could use DVBGuide (use v .95) to extract to an xmltv file.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Forgive me if I am not helping ... XMLTV is a set of rules that say how info about TV shows should be stored in an XML file. An example would be ...

Quote:<programme start="20130226210000 +0000" stop="20130226220000 +0000" channel="UK_RT_134">

<category lang="en">Drama</category>
<length units="minutes">60</length>

</subtitles>
</programme>
There are many software programs (often called grabbers) that can get data in XMLTV format. In some countries there are many ways to get XMLTV data.

NEXTPVR reads an XML file containing XMLTV data and stores the TV show information in a database. It is the info from the database that is displayed in the Guide in NextPVR.

In Settings --> Channels, you can specify a source of TV show info for each channel that you can receive. In most of Europe, the options are DVB (the info that is brodcast by the TV companies) or XMLTV.

If you select XMLTV as the source of TV show info for channel XYZ, you need to use a grabber to get info for channels that include XYZ. Typically, a grabber can be setup to get data for many channels. You can then setup NextPVR to use XMLTV as the source for each of those channels.

Many thanks, Lao Pan.

<<<I have looked on the xmltv gui forum and I think you may be out of luck - the only reference to a German grabber was in 2009 and the link is dead
Actually I was convinced to have set up this XMLTV file / program or whatever it is a year or so ago, I remember it was very difficult, but it then worked, the EPG was running, by the way, I mean this one - xmltv-0.5.63-win32.zip - there seems to be some kind of coding / process called XMLTV or so, may be I caused some misunderstanding by just saying XMLTV, sorry. The name of the add on I tried to get to run is http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...TVListings and for this add on you need this thing xmltv-0.5.63-win32.zip and this comes...I must have a look, I am confused...ah, it is from here or so, I do not know exactly: http://wiki.xmltv.org/index.php/XMLTVProject. And the exe in that zip file must be used to get EPG information or so. Sorry, I absolutely have any idea about this all.

<<<You may be better off using this http://forums.gbpvr.com/showthread.p...TV-Epg-Grabber
OK, I can try that one, thank you.

<<<New website http://webgrabplus.com/

<<<At least they have ini files for 5 different German EPG sources.
If it it easier to set up, respectively possible at all, it would be good.

<<<If there is a full epg provided in the broadcast stream you could use DVBGuide (use v .95) to extract to an xmltv file.
I am not sure to understand, but I have...the most important TV Stations are on cable, analog, so I assume it wouldn't work.

<<<Forgive me if I am not helping ...
No, no, I am thankful for your help.

<<<XMLTV is a set of rules that say how info about TV shows should be stored in an XML file. An example would be ...
Ah yes, sorry, so I caused confusing by naming this file or program or add on in a wrong way, what I meant, was as written this one: xmltv-0.5.63-win32.zip

<<<There are many software programs (often called grabbers) that can get data in XMLTV format. In some countries there are many ways to get XMLTV data.

OK, I understand.

OK, so I would have to get a new add on, program or however it is called - like Lao Pan says -to get these broadcast informations.

If you do not have a good EPG, program guide the best PVR is (almost) useless.

It is unbelievable hard to set up such a PVR.

Unfortunately NextPVR can't magic the listings from nothing. The app tries to be as flexible as possible, to accommodate guide data from different sources. Admittedly it's a lot easier in some countries than others.

I suggest that you try with broadcast (OTA) Guide (EPG) data to begin with. It is easier. This should help ...
http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...WithOTAEPG
You can then find a grabber program for XMLTV data tomorrow or next week or next year Smile

Alas, a little bit of magic would be good. But I didn't want to criticize, sorry. Just a saying, it is not that easy to gather all the information on different pages / websites and as I found this XMLTV add on or TV-Listings on a NPVR page, I thought, it worked.

NPVR is of course a very good program, very well done. Sorry again.
