Closed caption support with ffdshow from ATSC .ts files?

Anyone having success getting closed captioning to work with the ffdshow tryout filter under nPVR (Win7 64-bit)? I'm recording ATSC files (North America, over the air HDTV, .ts files). I can use CTRL-X to bring up the closed caption menu and turn captioning on, but nothing displays on the screen. Closed captioning works fine with the MainConcept decoder, but I get better decoder quality with ffdshow. Any suggestions for getting getting CC with ffdshow or am I just out of luck?

Unfortunately I think you're out of luck with ffdshow. From memory it doesn't output closed captions in the required format.

There is a free application called Telxcc which supposedly can extract cc from .ts files and put it in a .srt file. I use it for extracting teletext subtitles from shows that has that and put it in a file with the same name as the recording + .default.srt. NextPVR will then automatically display the subtitles when you play the recording.

Thanks Sub and Reddwarf! While researching the Telxcc program Reddwarf mentioned, I also found CCExtractor. I tested it and it works great. I'll add it to my postprocessing.bat files and it looks like I'll be all set with my ffdshow decoder and closed captions! Thanks again!
