Often need to restart xbmc to see new recordings

As an example, overnight NextPVR recorded Star Wars:Clone Wars. When I looked under 'Recordings' in the morning, it didn't show the new recording and the 'Next Recording' widget on the Home screen showed last night's 'CTV News'. I closed xbmand opeded the NextPVR client and found the shows had indeed been recorded. When I relaunched xbmc, the shows then appeared under recordings and the 'Next Recording' widget properly displayed the next job.

Is this a known issue? Which log to upload?

It is a known issue, and all the PVR addons suffer from the same problem. There is a workaround that addons can implement to get the list to periodically update the recording list, but it's pretty ugly so I'm hoping a better solution will appear.

It sounds like the xbmc team team is not real committed to fixing this from their end:

That's a problem of the add-on that you're using. it must inform us that the recordings list changed by calling TriggerRecordingsUpdate()

Apparently tvheadend and MythTV have already implemented the change.

Yeah, I know. Makes all the addons pretty messy though, and requires them to use background threads etc, to have the addon poll the backend. I will probably end up having to implement that work around. I'd rather they just used the existing function to update the recording list on demand when the user viewed the recordings so that they'd always see the most recent list.

Where does this rank on the list of priorities for the next release? It is hurting the Wife Acceptance Factor, since she often has to restart xbmc to see new recordings.

If you click on the "recordings" in left menu it will refresh, don't need to restart xbmc.

When I do this, it shows the status bar in the upper right corner like it is going to update, but then never continues. XBMC essentially hangs and I have to close it - then kill the task via Task Manager and relaunch it.
