Also I just stopped and as reported earlier the latest 3 "About to" files 7/9 remained as orphans. It seems to happen after the fourth rolling file

yeah, same here. I was watching CBS this morning on my win8 client, and those files remain:

all files from server livetv sessions have been deleted. no big deal to me though; years ago I put "del c:\livetv\*.ts" in my PostUpdateEPG.bat and have never thought about it since.

I'm posting this here rather than starting a new thread, because I suspect there may be a common element to the problem.

On the same clients as I have the freezing issue in SDTV, I tried today to use an HDTV channel to watch live TV. The program took about 8-10 seconds to kick in after I hit watch from the EPG. The sound had an appalling stutter and the video was completely messed up. I tried to stop it, but NPVR froze up completely before I could quit. I had to crash out of the program.

I then tried recording the same program and then playing the recording. That was perfect.

I cleaned out the client logs and played the live TV again with the registry settings in place. This time, I got a black screen for a few seconds before the corrupted video started. Once again it crashed. I've attached the logs I got. Unfortunately the server nrecord log will be untidy, cus the family are recording/watching all sorts of other stuff.

That just looks serious problems capturing from the source. The only links to this thread is the client expects a perfect network/source with no really clean exit on errors.

It certainly looks like the mess one gets from a crap signal. Potentially I do have multiple tuners that can handle this channel and one could be duff. However as far as I can tell, the tuner used is the same when I recorded and then played back (its further up in the same nrecord log) and that was flawless.

I saw three attempts to play ITV1 all with the error I have come to expect when a rolling file stops growing

In those logs, it looks as though the start of the recorded section is before the rollover, but I know it recorded on both tuners OK.

It does appear that my problem here may be server side. I have a dvb-s2 and a dvb-t2 card that can handle HD feeds. I have succesfully played both at the same time on the server using PIP. However apparently randomly when I try to play on the server, it will jitter and crash. I should say, I don't normally play anything on my server. I've tried to get a set of clean logs to work out if it's one tuner or both, but my daughter is insisting on watching Vampire Diaries, despite me crashing and restarting the server every 5 minutes, so the logs are a mess. I will try and document it better tomorrow when I have the system to myself!

Please accept my apologies for the delay in creating these logs -- the day job got in the way.

Attached are a set of logs (2 from the client plus the nrecord log from the server) from a live TV session where a freeze occurred while watching analog TV after about 60 min.

Later today I will create a second set of logs for a FM radio freeze -- to see if there is any pattern the these analog freezes.

I'll try to get some logs, but I'm still getting client freezes still too. Curiously, they always seem to occur during an ad break: does that make any sense?
