Error recording using EPG

Hi,

Is anybody can advise, I'm having problem recording using EPG, but manual recording working. I have looked and NRecord.log and I think this lines is where poblem is:

It was stop working after we have few new channels added and I have to rescan my tuner.

It looks as if there are bad characters in the .xml file containing your EPG. Delete any recurring or quick recording for the show that is failing (it might have bad characters in the record that specifies the show to be recorded). Get a new version of the EPG .xml file, empty EPG and reload EPG here ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...n.Channels

Plus, it may be that if you get a new version of the EPG .xml file in a few days, the file will be clean.

What is the name of the show you're trying to record?

I may have mis-read your log. Where do you get EPG data from? What does it say in the EPG column in this screen? http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...n.Channels

I have just looked at the log again. I suspect that you are getting your EPG data from the broadcast stream and the data in the stream contains invalid characters.

The EPG data is in the broadcast stream. It may be that that a glitch in the broadcast caused a corruption in the data. Perhaps a penguin flew in front of the aerial

Do Empty EPG and Update EPG from time to time and see if the problem goes away. If the error is coming from the broadcaster, it may take a day or a week (or more) before the show with the invalid character(s) in its name has passed.

You still have the problem if the npvr.log contains something like ...

Unexpected error parsing EPGEvent xml: System.Xml.XmlException: '', hexadecimal value 0x11, is an invalid character.

Thank again for all your help. So I have to use manual recording and hope for the best. One more question - If there any way I can dump EPG to XML file and see what is going on??? You mentioned EPG.xml before, but it is not exist on my computer.

An alternative way to get EPG data is to download an XMLTV file from somewhere ... but ... I don't expect that you will be able to find an XMLTV source for the Falkland Islands. The .xml file that I was referring to was a mistake by me thinking that you had downloaded an XMLTV file.

The best way to see what is going on inside NextPVR is to look inside npvr.db3. It's a SQLite database and there are several programs that you can try ... I use SQLite Manager (a Firefox plugin). NextPVR stores everything in the database or in config.xml. The usual warning about copying the files before you tinker applies. http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...alledParts

You may find it useful to use DVBGuide to download the dvb epg data to an xmltv file and map that to your program guide - see this http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post454916 on how to do it for uk freeview.

It is possible that this will clean up the invalid characters - or you may be able to run a cleanup routine afterwards - someone else here might be able to help on that - bit above my pay grade :confused:
