I reviewed the patch fixes you referenced and those appear to be related to issues once the program is running, and I can't get that far. So I tried next best Full DirectX Runtime successfully loaded from MS and then restarted, with no improvement, still get the original error. Guess I have a gremlin? I could be crazy/dumb. I attached the latest log files.Sad

I'd try removing and re-installing .net and visual c runtimes. something is fouled up with your software components I think. I don't recall anyone ever having a crash just trying to start NextPVR.exe.

Updating or reinstalling drivers has been known to solve some problems. I don't know if it would solve yours, but a search for graphics drivers for your processor indicates that the driver you mentioned is no longer current (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchRe...amilyId=39). There might be a good reason why you haven't replaced it, but I would at least check Windows Update to see if there was an optional Intel update that you didn't install.

Checked for updates and it appears to be the latest per the message:
Product Detected Intel® HD Graphics 2500 or Intel® HD Graphics
Current Driver Installed 9.17.10.2932
Your driver is current.

Ok just realized that that graphics version is a later version of what I indicated in post yesterday. So, tried again with latest Intel HD update and re-installed NVPR and still same results. No program run. What the hey??

.NET Framework and Visual C all appear to be up to date also.

You still might try johnsonx42's suggestion of uninstalling/reinstalling them. I'm fresh out of ideas myself and beginning to suspect that NPVR doesn't work with your hardware.

no, I don't think there's any chance that it's a hardware problem. something is fouled up in the software components. this is one of those cases where a clean install of windows may be the only solution.

Is there a way to step through the program run scripts to see where the failure might occur? The .log files appear to show that but with not quite enough information?

sub would have to give you a special build of NextPVR.exe with a bunch of extra logging at startup. even then, while you might find out exactly what NextPVR was requesting of the system when it failed, that may still be no help determining how to fix it since almost any call will involve many components - .net runtime, visual c runtime, directx runtime, all manner of windows stuff underneath those layers, etc.

I forgot to ask before though, have you looked in the Windows System and Application error logs to see if anything shows up there when NextPVR.exe dies?
