for some reason the npvr recording service seems to stop itself every single day now.... i am unsure what logs go hand in hand with it.

i did reinstall npvr a few days ago but it seems that the service keeps stopping itself.

very weird

event viewer shows

The NPVR Recording Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).

and it seems its always accompanied with this error

An unhandled exception occurred and the process was terminated.

Application ID: NRecord.exe

Process ID: 1944

Exception: System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException

Message: The given key was not present in the dictionary.

could it be because i installed it via rdp on one user, but the user who is constantly logged on is a different user?

I have been going to post about a similar problem, nrecord started playing up for me when i deleted some channels, must have corrupted the database somehow, the recording service would crash immediately after starting it. When i deleted the database and reimported all recordings it was fine for a few days, then I noticed it had stopped starting when windows reboots but could restarted manually just fine, I reinstalled npvr 2 days ago and haven't had further problems so far, maybe if you reinstall andsee what happens.

Just post your NRecord and NPVR logs so we can see what was the last thing done before it died.

i deleted and resetup npvr again before i saw this message, i will test for a few days and see if there is any specific time that it keeps failing at and then come back with more detail.

hopefully the reinstall worked

since the new install has been fine so far my question is could manually moving a recording form the "recording" directory to a external USB storage drive cause any DB corruption and if so what would i do to fix that.

The database contains a record that includes the path to the recording (that is the .ts file). If you move the .ts file without updating the database, NextPVR will be unable to find (and play) the file. NextPVR deals with missing recordings (e.g. moved files) according to ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...nced#toc91

The easiest way to move a recording is to use the NextPVR Archive function ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ings#toc20
