Had NextPvr and BeyondTV running side by side for several months. No problem. The NPVR server was working with a Silicon Dust three tuner HomeRun Prime which recorded all my encrypted channels.

The BeyondTV server was using a Silicon Dust two turner HDHomerun which was recording several Clear QAM major network channels.

This set up worked fine .. Recently I turned off the BTV server and set up the NPVR server to access both the 3-tuner HomeRun Prime (cable card) and the 2-tuner HDhomerun tuner.
Now I am getting the dreaded "No errors, but no data delivered. This is usually because the device failed to lock a signal." on a regular basis.

Checking my devices in NPVR shows I have 5 tuners but they are all attached to the HDHomerun Prime which only has 3 physical tuners.

The 5 listed turners show active and are sharing the same models for 2 of them.

And I have several other tuners that show up as enabled but doing a channel scan on any of them shows no channels.?? I've seen articles recently about the FCC now allowing Cable Providers to encrypt the formerly clear-QAM channels and I'm wondering if maybe that's why I can't tune any of the tuners other than the cable card one? I'm also confused about all the tuners showing .. I only have a total of 5 tuners, 3 are from the HomeRun Prime cable card and two are from the HDhomerun. I see the HomeRun Prime tuners showing up multiple times which is weird.

Bottom line is that I'm not getting any conflict notices .. BUT if I schedule more than 3 tuners I get the aforementioned "No errors, but no data delivered" Recently I got a warning message from my BeyondTV service showing a ton of new channels were added and some others moved. Normally BTV handles all that automatically. But since that message I no longer can use BTV to watch the clear QAM channels.

I'm hoping that the problem is some kind of error with the HDhomerun tuner set up. But I'm not having any success getting them to work. Here's what my NPVR device setup looks like: [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

Problems using two such devices at the same time have been reported before: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ng-places&)

Regarding whether or not a cable card is needed for QAM channels, see posts 46-49 of http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...BMC/page5&

I'm confused why no hdhr atsc devices shows up. Also the hdhr looks like it is configured as cablecard.

You should probably rerun your HDHomerun Setup and double check the configuration for each tuner.

Thanks for the info guys. As soon as I get home later today I'll do some more testing. Meanwhile

Zeb, thanks for the links .. as for the 2nd one regarding whether or not a cable card is required I do know that when I first setup NPVR I tested it without the cable card device and was using a mix of Happauge digital tuners and the SiliconDust HDHomerun. And at that time I was receiving about 15 digital clear QAM stations.

After testing I set everything as it now is configured (about six months ago) and I was able to receive all the clear QAM stations with my HDHomerun. Keep in mind that for the last several months, I was using the BeyondTV application JUST to tune the Clear QAM stations and the NPVR JUST to tune the remainder of the encrypted stations.

This all worked fine until a week ago when I suddenly seemed to loose all the clear QAM stations in the BTV application. I thought of calling my cable provider (Cox) but frankly it's a pain to get to someone in a higher position for support. I've been recording HD Clear QAM for more than 10 years and all during that time, the people at Cox insisted that I needed a converter box. When I first installed the HDHomerun Prime cable card, I had go through three tiers of support before I got someone who knew what I was talking about.

I fear they have scrambled my clear QAM stations. I hope I'm wrong.

mvallevand, I know what you mean and I'm confused as well. My tuner list just doesn't make sense to me either. And the hdhr shouldn't be listed as a cable card device.

whurlston, I already tried re-installing the hdhr device. And the result is what we see in my screen shot. I'm going to first uninstall BeyondTV and all the items concerning the HDHR it was using. Then try installing the HDHR device from scratch. Yeah .. I'm a VERY old BeyondTV holdout. Been using it and was a beta tester for something like 12 or more years. Lack of cable card tuner support has driven me to NextPvr, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. There are just a few minor glitches I've noticed but nothing that compromises it's reliability.

More when I get home .. Rich

what do you have the Application set to in the HDHR's driver settings? It should be set to either "NextPVR" or "Other ATSC/QAM" (preferrably the former, but some people can only scan with it set to the latter)

They might have scrambled the clear QAM. Recent permission from the FCC to do so. There's a thread on here about it.

I have the application set to NextPVR. I'll try the "Other ATSC/QAM"

Yeah I know .. that was something I've alluded to in prior posts. But that still doesn't explain the weird setup of the tuners .. See in-line screen cap of current config. Why am I seeing all those ATSC/QAM devices ?? All I have are 5 physical tuners 3 in the HDHomerum Prime and 2 in the HDHomerun. And out of those 5 physical tuners that you see enabled, only the 131038C-x work. The other two 101C7789-x don't work. I disabled all the others in an attempt to sort this out. Today I uninstalled the HDHomerun .. leaving only the HDHomerun Prime. That resulted in only 5 tuners showing up (the five you see at the bottom of the screen cap) Then I installed the HDHomerun and what I got was you see in the latest screen cap. All the new install did was to give me 10 tuners of which none work at all.

The install / setup for the HDhomerun tuners for both the regular HDHomeRun and the HDHomerun PRIME are the same. Both those tuners are being seen and set up properly. And after installing the HDHomerun from scratch again when I open up NextPVR devices I get what you see below.

you need to disable the HDHR Prime versions of the 101C7789 tuner, and enable the QAM Silicon Dust HDHomeRun versions.
