I've used firewire with the Pace STB (don't have it anymore). Check the STB config to see if firewire is enabled. For that matter, is the firewire port on the PC enabled?

I've had three firewire PCI cards over the years. One has not worked with the legacy OHCI FW drivers. It appeared the drivers loaded fine (no yellow !), but I'd see what you're seeing. I had an external hard drive drive with a FW port on it to test and confirmed the card wasn't working with those drivers.

It could just be an incompatibility with the FW chipset you have, at least in my experience.

in the user settings now and the options are, tv aspect ratio, tv display capability, auto pillarbox, closed captions, front panel settings, hdmi settings, restore defaults, no option to enable or disable firewire

That would be a Windows internal thing NextPVR wouldn't know anything about it.

You got to user settings by hitting Power off then Menu on the remote, right? Try Power off then OK/Select/Return (whatever it is on your remote), that should give you a hardware menu that at least includes a status menu for the ports on the STB.

In 1394 status it says. Status enabled, guid 00509400 0090da1e, and subunits tuner panel. Seems all is well here so y won't the hardware wizard comeup when I plug in the stb? What Do I do now

The instructions from exdeus provide both a wizard and "manual" version of the install. You might review the manual and make sure everything is there that is supposed to be there. At least two firewire devices, tuner and panel.
