Just create a manual recording (in the Recordings list, hit Home or move the mouse to the top of the screen to find the "hidden" Man-Rec option).
Set the Recording Type to Daily, Channel to Any Channel, leave the name as Default. Ignore the date and times, go to the Advanced Rule field and enter: Code: title like '%star trek%' That will pick up any show or movie with star trek in the title, any time, any channel.

The "Advanced runle" is basically a SQL statement for selection, so if you have any experience with sql programming you can make a very advanced selection.

You can also use the NEWA Autoserach/Autorecord feature in conjunction with the Command Line Interface. 99% of my recordings are automatically scheduled using NEWA...
