I had everything working, then my hard drive failed so I rebuilt the PC and now I can't get Next PVR to work with XBMC. When I select a TV show from the EPG from XBMC after about a minute an XBMC message pops up "The channel cannot be played. Check the log for details".

I have both the colossus tuners working in showbiz and IRSS does change the channels. I am using Shark 007 and the AC3 Filer.

On the Next PVR under the decoder menu, everything is either Microsoft DTV-DVD or AC3 Filter. I have also applied the patch for Microsoft DTV-DVD

I have attached the Next PVR Logs. Can anyone help??

Thanks

Mark

If you're using component cables to capture from an STB, then I believe you'll need analog support as discussed in the Wiki: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ugeSoftPVR [Edit] This is incorrect!

Code:
2013-06-05 09:03:59.611    [DEBUG][1]    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus
2013-06-05 09:03:59.611    [DEBUG][1]    MainConcept mux not present. Disabling analog support.

If you have a CD, you can install WinTV for free. However if you're using HDMI then I don't think this is the problem. I believe XBMC has its own decoders, so the decoders you select for NPVR should have no bearing for the front end. BTW you have not installed the DirectX end-user runtimes for NPVR.

Zeb,

Thanks for the response.. I will do all this shortly. Just one question can we use HDMI with Shaw Direct receivers?? in the past i have not tried it because of HCDP....

Maybe for some channels, I'm not sure. It's possible to set up some channels for HDMI and others for Component/SPDIF. BTW mvallevand (very smart guy who uses very similar HDPVR) recommends setting STB output to 720p to avoid deinterlacing issues. Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder (with patch 2) and AC3 Filter should be fine for NPVR. In case you have audio problems, e.g. no "Track 1 [AC3]" when you right-click and point to Audio Stream, here's a link to an earlier thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...s-on-Win-8

Yes, you don't need to worry about this with a Colossus.

That message in the log is just saying that it isn't going to look for analog tuners in the machine (since pre-requisite components aren't installed). The Colossus isn't one of these analog tuners.

Ignoring XBMC for now, does Live TV work in NextPVR?

Hi sub. I'm sure markcf105 is (or at least, was) using component input because NRecord shows "using 'Audio SPDIFDigital In' Audio." Are you saying no analog components are needed with a Colossus even when using component input? There was also this in NRecord:

2013-06-05 08:51:36.598 [DEBUG][13] Device reports resolution: 0x0 (fps:0) (aspect:0) (progressive:0) (videoIdCode:0)

True it is an analog signal source, but the Colossus/HDPVR/HDPVR2 family of devices are different from old-school analog devices, and don't need the SoftPVR components. Instead this hardware muxes to TS in hardware.

I apologize if analog support was a wild goose chase. I've reviewed NPVR logs in older Colossus threads and "Disabling analog support" is nowhere to be found, so I must not be the only one who thought it was necessary. As for your most recent logs using HDMI input, there's only one line that convinces me you were even getting a signal (while tuned to channel 172 - other channels tried might have HDCP):

2013-06-05 14:07:46.433 [DEBUG][6] Device reports resolution: 1280x720 (fps:60) (aspect:2) (progressive:1) (videoIdCode:4)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't fps be 30? This reminds me of a troublesome old thread that was never resolved except when the user switched from HDMI to component/SPDIF:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...n-too-fast

If you want to keep trying HDMI, you'll need to enable an AAC decoder under Settings/Decoders. Also make sure the Microsoft decoder is selected there for h.264 video. (With the Colossus, MPEG2 video might as well be Disabled.) Under Settings/Devices, you will need to select all the channels in the list, right-click and "update to current settings." Also do that if you switch back to component/SPDIF. (It should be possible to set up different channels for different sources in this manner.) It might be necessary to set <ForceSPDIF>true in Config (using notepad and being sure to save the file as .xml rather than defaulting to .txt).

If your problems persist, hopefully mvallevand will see your post this evening.
