Reoccuring issue with the OSD (or lack thereof)

I've had a problem with the OSD not functioning. Pressing up/down on the channel button while watching Live TV does not activate the OSD. Also, pausing, rewinding, and fast-forwarding recorded video won't bring up the OSD either.

I've had this problem show up in several versions of GB-PVR, usually after a clean install. (I've rebuilt my PVR too many times to remember.) I ignored the problem several times since upgrading to the next version made the problem go away. I don't have that option at the moment. I've played with the Minimal OSD during playback option with no success.

Just finished testing that. I'm not sure how but switching to VMR9 and back again seems to have awakened the OSD in Overlay mode. I can't recall if I've ever used VMR9 since Overlay has worked so well. This is truly a puzzling riddle.

I'm confused what do you normally use? Overlay?

If its not working with overlay, you could try running

regsrv32 OvTool.dll

I'd been having a similar issue since upgrading to 0.94.12. OSD appears in Live TV mode, but not in any playback. All keys function, and I can navigate within the video, but no OSD.

I've twiddled most/all of the combinations of VMR9(what I normally use)/VMR7/Overlay, with no change. I've looked at logs, but nothing appeared to be related. Finally, I started fooling around with video codec selection, and it came back !
