If you missed it, I've been developing a NextPVR client for Samsung smart hub. It's goal is to replicate NextPVR gui as a samsung smart app. It allows you to view live tv, recordings etc, so you can have a nextpvr installed on a server/desktop and then doesn't require a htpc for your tvs.

It's not complete, however its pretty good IMO (biased of course Tongue), and I need a few people to test it on different devices. I only have access to two 2013 tvs and a 2012 tv. I would like to test it on a 2011 tv and a few bluray players.

What's currently done (i've asked sub to make a sub forum for requests, bugs etc)

- Main Menu
- TV Guide, you can browse all your listings, see whats scheduled to be recorded, watch live tv, see program details and open the "Record" dialog (however recording isn't done yet, waiting on api doc/changes)
- Recordings, currently only available, pending and whats new works (whats new is currently all recordings in last week which I dont think is the same as the real nextpvr gui)
- Settings, this allows you to specify the nextpvr server (hostname/ip and port)

It needs the ability to record, thats the #1 priority on my list and i'll likely have this done before anyone actually tests this, but just need to find a few testers out there.

To test the app, you need to sign in as "develop" on your tv.

2013 models sign in as develop
  1. Open the system menu by pushing the "Menu" button
  2. Go to "Smart"
  3. click the "Sign in" menu item
  4. Enter "develop" as the username with no password
  5. Done, now in the smart hub in the top right menu you should have "IP Address" and a "Sync" button
Once you become a beta tester ill send you further instructions, but you need to be able to get "IP Address" and the "sync" button, if you can't manage to find this, then you wont be able to beta test it.

you'll need to google how to sign in with different models

I also want some expert nextpvr users, people who know the tricks you can do that i've missed (ive never actually used nextpvr as a frontend, used gb-pvr for years though Smile)

cool, let me know if you get it working. If you do I'll send you instructions to get a alpha version, to test it works in theory on a blu-ray player.

ok, so basically you need me to verify I can get my Blu-ray signed in to developer mode, then you'll send me instructions to download and install the app? Too late tonight, but I can do that tomorrow some time.

yup, just want to keep this alpha/beta very closed ATM, so I know whose using it and what system they're using it on.

Well, unfortunately I don't have a compatible device.. but I just want to say kudos to you, looks really neat from the screenshots.

Out of interest how is the performance when using such a device for NPVR? - Any chance of a youtube video or anything?

Might go and get myself a bluray player :p

ok, on my BD-D5300, if I sign in with username "develop" and password "develop" I do get into dev mode. On the previously largely useless Settings menu there's a new "Development" menu item with IP address and sync buttons. So I appear to be ready. I will await your instructions by PM.
