Thanks Zeb,
I left the TV on Fox 5, a channel that has great signal and never had any problems before, I woke up 6 hours later to see it went into an infinite loop of 3 seconds, repeating same sentence from a scene in The Office, which indicates NPVR went belly up sometime around half hour after I turned off the TV.
XBMC had a message with red X on the corner, "NextPVR PVR Client" "Tuner no longer available".
XBMC was still running but the loop put it into a stuck state I had to force close it.
I am paying for QAM but it is negligible since it comes bundled with my cable internet service, I should have a good ATSC signal in my area, I just need to get an antenna by the window somewhere. I will try the whole thing again with ATSC to see if it works any better.
I will continue to run tests, I really want NPVR+XBMC to work.
