AutoMute commercials during live TV

This is more likely a Comskip wish but still I can dream in colour can't I?

Something like a key command toggle to invoke a live instance of Comskip that lets NPVR know when to cut/lower the volume when there are commercials and return to regular volume when the block is done.

Even if there was a 10 second delay of the live show due to processing it would still be gold.

If you look at a comskip edl file the third column is supposed to indicate the type of comskip. If it is 1 is mute. I don't think sub has enabled this but xbmc does.

You could probably implement this outside npvr using eventghost. Basic logic sequence:

1. watch livetv folder for new .ts file
   
2. call comskip on that file
   
3. monitor for in-commercial flag from comskip
   
4. mute/unmute audio based on flag
   

Edit: just realized that would break as soon as you timeshift, so never mind....

I'm not sure if comskip.exe supports the edl standard for mute. Jt does does have an option to use 3 for xbmc. With the default 0 it takes getting used to in xbmc because commercials don't show up in the timeline at all and the total time is reduced.

Edit: I reread this thread after realizing it was LiveTV and not in-progress recordings. Given the way that rolling files are created comskip.exe won't be able to process the files so this seems to require an incredibly complex solution to replace hitting a mute button.
