Hi,

I would really like some fresh ideas because I've run out of solutions so far.

Here is my setup :
- HDhomerun dual tuner, networked to the router.
- Underpowered laptop (1 year old) running nextPvr perfectly. Also runs XBMC perfectly, including Live Tv.
- Networked Pivos Xios Ds with Linux Xbmc. The Xios plays the HDhomerun streams perfectly using these intructions (http://www.silicondust.com/forum2/viewto...a3c#p33358), but it severely buffers using the live TV option.

Using the streams, there is only one stream travelling in my network : from the hdhomerun to the Xios.
Using live tv, there are two streams travelling : from the hdhomerun to my laptop, (using nextpvr) then another one from my laptop to my Xios.

So, my hyptohesis is either my computer is too slow handling the two streams, or my router can't cope.

Anyone has any idea how I can find which one is the bottleneck ?

Thanks !

Do you mean buffering all the time or when you changes channels?

I mean buffers for 20 seconds... plays the file for 10-20 seconds, buffers for 10, etc etc etc.. The Xios never gets to "catch up". (using nextpvr)

But everything is fine if the Xios only plays the stream directly from the hdhomerun.

Running on the Linux build, recently nightly, timeshifting OFF, and wired, I have no issues like that with 1080i or 720p digital broadcasts when the signal is good. My backend is over 5 years old and it wasn't state of the at the time.

I'd followup by posting your xbmc log to the pivos forums but davilla did complain to sub about the excessive logging which sub didn't turn off in time for v12.2

Why do we need timeshifting to be OFF?

It kind of defeats the purpose of the live TV function I want to use.

And my Xios is Wired too.

I don't know if you have to, that is my configuration. I've grown out of the habit of skipping in NextPVR since it first came out because of other reasons and the problems may have been fixed, but I prefer recording full shows and deleting them if I want to skip or rewind to the beginning.

Thank you very much for your help.

I will try to turn off timeshifting as well tonight at home to check the results. This will give me the possibility of easy channel changing which I do not have using the "stream method".

Also, where do I disable timeshifting off, In XBMC or NextPVR?

By the way have you ever heard of someone being able to use timeshifting on the Xios with a HDHomerun then ?

I have tried with Argus Tv too, but the results were the same and configuration was confusing for me. NextPVR was a lot easier to configure.

Thanks again!

Update : Timeshifting was already off.

The problem was the wired connection between the laptop and the router. Somehow speeds were wrong (50mbps) so I changed the cable and everything went smooth at that point. The PVR add-on in Xbmc works perfectly (both on laptop and Xios), as well as the X-Newa add-on.

So if anyone wants to know, setting up a multiroom PVR with a HDHomerun dual, PC and Xios all wired works great. Time to cut the cord ! Smile
