If the file is not created at all, it suggests to me the recording directory is in some way inaccessible. ie, like permissions or drive mappings etc.

So now it just started working again...

I didn't change anything, but restarted the service and we're all good for now..

Yeah, it's often necessary to restart service after major Settings changes. I probably should've mentioned your NPVR.log shows that the DirectX end-user runtimes are not installed. Software rendering leads to increased CPU usage at the very least: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...requisites

I've found in my VM testing (VirtualBox and VMWare) that was impossible to install DirectX the way NextPVR expects.

Ah I wonder if that's to blame. I was about to get on here and say I KNOW DirectX is installed as I followed that Pre-reqs page before starting. That and I am aware about restarting the service after making changes, but this last restart was just a shot in the dark after no changes. I wonder if somehow DirectX is only seen correctly sometimes.

Can you elaborate more on what you mean Martin? What does NextPVR expect and what do you see sometimes?

DirectX should have nothing to do with the recordings. It's only used for smooth UI animations.

Sorry, I had just realized that after re reading Zeb's post. I'm a linux guy, this windows stuff is kinda nonsensical to me sometimes.
