If I playback over XBMC an NPVR recording which is still recording - ie I am (sort of) in timeshift mode - the play back stops after about half an hour and has to be restarted. Then it goes for about another 15 minutes and stops again, and has to be restarted. Each time it starts up fine, but from the beginning (ie no resume), until it stops again. The logs covering the latest event are attached. The last stop occurred about 2050 while watching Celebrity Masterchef. The machine was recording a second programme too at the time All this is causing some domestic tension and I should appreciate some help.
My NPVR version is 2.6.2, the XBMC add-on 1.6.5, and the XBMC version is 12.6-PRE running on a raspberry pi.
The weblog seems very long and rolls over a lot. Let me know if it is no good, and what I can do to improve it. I can try to duplicate the behaviour while logging but it seems to be a bit random and intermittent so won't be easy

That web.log starts at 20:51, so not sure if it covers the event you're describing.

Are you talking about live tv or watching a recording? In the logs it looks like you're watching a recording.

I guess I was seeing words like "timeshift" etc, which only apply to live tv...

XBMC will only play a recording up to the duration it was when playback was first started. This is probably what you're seeing. Its a known XBMC limitation.

Thanks sub - this might be the problem, but it is not quite consistent with the behaviour. When I restart the recording after the first stop it stops very much before the end time of the recording at the time of the restart. And also I think that even on the first pass it goes past the original end time (today I started after 15 minutes or so had been recorded but it ran for half an hour). I will do a bit of careful work over the next day or so, try to reproduce the behaviour with good logs and revert

Sub

Got back to this after a day or three. Reproduced the behaviour. Started two recordings at 1633 or so (after clearing the logs) then started watching one of them, it crashed after just over 15 minutes. The logs of nrecord, web, and npvr are attached (The web.log restarted half way through so there are two).
Could you confirm that this is an XBMC issue, as you suggested in your earlier post. If it is I will have to junk my XBMC kit which would be a pity

It's a known issue http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=139793 which afaik has not been addressed in Gotham alphas. x-newa provides a workaround via file shares but I know you weren't interested in using it.

Thanks Martin. Yes, I found X-NEWA was not for me. I am going back to the PCHs and your excellent add-on program for NPVR which works really nicely. It is just that the PCHs are a bit big and ugly and don't do catch-up TV

What is catchup TV?
