@imilne, have you updated to 3.1.1? There's a change that might affect your issue. If you're still running 2.6.2 try Patch 6. Probably the right and wrong audio streams have a different number of audio channels?

I've also tried with ac3filter and all plugins disabled too, just in case. Nothing helped unfortunately.
I can see it choosing the wrong audio stream in this log, but I cant see why it'd be different to mine - you're using 3.1.1 right?

Have you checked your prefered language setting in config.xml?

Set to 'eng' as I'd expect.

Looking at the logic, it has to be related to the preferred audio language somehow.

Do you have the following in your config.xml:

<LanguagePreference1>eng</LanguagePreference1>
<LanguagePreference2>default</LanguagePreference2>

No, I had default for both. Changing it to eng has fixed it!

And apologies, Red Dwarf, the 'eng' I saw earlier must have been the PreferredLanguage for subtitles - serves me right for reading the file using my phone.

Thanks all! I guess this has never mattered until now, but at least it's a simple tweak to sort it.

Great.

I'm guessing they changed the order of the audio streams, putting other audio stream before the English one, so allow on the 'default' (first audio stream) was no longer good enough.

Um - mine was on default for both as well - changing it to eng resulted in no audio on SD TV until it was selected in audio streams for each SD channel. Restarting NPVR lost them all again. I think they were [MPEG1] eng] in the audio track selection description.

The HD - [HE-AAC] eng] were OK

Using LAV Audio filter for all audio.

Reverted to default for now all back to normal.

In the drop-down list under settings general there is only default, Danish, and Czech available, but I expect that is for the UI only.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh
