It works ok here.

If he's got this problem with sockets no closing cleanly, then he's not going to have a lot of options other than enabling timeshift.

When this is enabled, the addon explicitly tells the addon when the live stream is stopping, which should trigger NextPVR to close the stream and delete the temporary files. If you don't have it enabled, it uses the old scheme of rely on Windows to tell NextPVR that the socket connection is gone - this worked fine for most people, but for some people the socket never seemed to close fully, so NextPVR thought the client was still watching live tv and continued to send the stream. It sounds like this is what you're seeing.

Yes, it's exactly what I'm seeing.

I do have the Timeshift option enabled in the addon settings so it can't be that. Any other ideas?

Agreed, but there are lots who see symptoms like I do too http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=169288

Your xbmc.log is definitely missing messages like "Telling backend of live session closure". I wonder if somehow you're using an old version of the XBMC addon, which pre-dated these changes? This message should definitely be there if you're running a current version of the addon, and timeshift is enabled.

I'm using the addon from the XBMC repository.

It reports itself as version 1.6.4.

Is there a newer one?

Hmm, that should have it. I'm not really sure what to suggest.

Can you maybe produce those logs again, but only watch tv for 20 seconds before stopping live tv, then wait another 20 seconds before zipping the logs, so I can see the start of process. Unfortunately some of the useful stuff rolled out of the logs in the set you posted previously.

Sub I think I mentioned that your changes never made it to frodo https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues/2860 it was written "for 12.3 if this is allowed by @davilla, since these are fixes but not crash&burn." and there never was a 12.3

The pull https://github.com/opdenkamp/xbmc-pvr-addons/pull/191 hasn't been promoted to Gotham yet either.

Sorry, I don't know then.

I tell ya, XBMC is the most painful project to try contributing to. It's worse than pulling teeth to get any changes committed. You don't hear back from anyone for weeks. No wonder the XBMC PVR stuff is moving at such a snail pace.

Speeko, there was a pre-built Windows version of the addon posted months ago that you could try installing, which definitely has the latest stuff. You'll have to search for it though, because I don't have any link to it handy.

Any ideas on what to search for?
Also - are you saying if I wait - eventually the XBMC addon will be updated with fixes?
