Is the addon open source ?

I have NextPVR and XVMC on a HTPC and am getting a pretty poor experience (nPVR works fine, but channel changes through XBMC take forever and XBMC LiveTV frequently hangs), would like to troubleshoot/get to grips with it.

Thanks .. KJ

Most of these problems that relate to http streaming are in xbmc itself or in the ffmpeg file handling and it is open source.

NextPVR is delivering the new channel data to XBMC within a second or so, but XBMC is very slow to start playback. This specifically relates to a problem in XBMC with the way it finds the audio and video streams. All XBMC PVR backends that use http exhibit the same problem.

Margro posted a build of the XBMC forums which includes a fix, and gives fast channel changes. They're still debating how/when it'll be included in the mainstream XBMC builds.

.

Thanks for the info. Smile
Does it have to use http? did I see something about XBMC being able to pick the LiveTV up from the recording/file on disk ?

Yeah, it pretty much needs to do it using http. Modifying it to play recordings from disk wouldn't be a big job, but very little gained. Modifying it to do live tv from disk would be a big job, and require more complicated configuration - not worth it in my book since they've already found the source of the problem with http stream and it's only a matter of time before the patch is included in the main branch. Until then, you can always use the Margro build to get quick channel changes.
