To anyone who can help

I attach the logs to help decipher what is causing this recurring issue

As you can see, I had a similar issue previously in that I had a black screen for HD channels. I applied the NShared patch but that only temporarily solved the problem.

The HD channels are all blank and the programme just no longer responds when you try to launch it

Is it a Windows 8 issue?

Is my pctv stick prone to creating conflicts and hassle?

Any feedback would be helpful. When I became aware of Next pvr and its potential I thought that it would be too good to be true....I hope I am wrong because when it works it is the jewel in my HTPC!

If it's on the DVB-T2 HD channels in the UK, then this points at the H.264 video decoder being your problem.

I see NRecord log ended at 20:10:32.776, and three NPVR logs are more recent than that. Wish I knew how to reflate the NPVR.log 3 file. Judging by ndigitalhost-21, this was just after an attempt to watch live TV on Channel 4 HD, which apparently failed due to poor signal. Did you maybe Stop NPVR Service after that? [Edit] I'm referring to 11-02.

First of all thanks for responding so quickly. Without being disrespectful I could not really see any clear suggestions as to how I can fix these issues so this is what I have done since the last post.

Uninstalled the programme
Reinstalled the programme
Patched the Nshared dll file
Tried alternative decoders
Installed xvid codec

That "Unable to stop service" message strongly suggests that the recording service has crashed. Your NRecord logs always seem to end when trying to watch Channel 4 HD, where NDigitalHost always shows:

2013-11-03 04:58:18.880 [DEBUG][4] locked=1, present=1, strength=0, quality=0

That appears to be a signal or tuner issue, not a decoder issue (although there's no reason not to try various H.264 decoders - have you tried selecting Microsoft DTV-DVD?). Does Channel 4 HD broadcast 24 hours per day even on weekends? (I apologize if that's a stupid question that only an American would ask.) Is it possible that the aerial has been reoriented since you scanned for channels, which might possibly have resulted in hopeless reception for Channel 4 HD?

You should definitely uninstall the Volume OSD plugin, which was last revised in 2011 and is causing lengthy error messages in your NPVR logs; but I really don't know if that could cause NRecord to crash.

Thanks Zeb. Channel 4 broadcasts 24 hrs a day. I have recently become aware that 4G interference could be affecting my signal strength. Hopefully I can resolve this matter as cellphone companies are paying to upgrade aerials because of this in affected areas. I actually forgot that I had installed the OSD Volume plugin.
I did try adjusting the decoders........but now I know that 4G interference is probably the culprit, there is nothing I can do. Those w*nkers have sabotaged my HD

Just remembered that some of your countrymen have said the PCTV 290e needs a powered USB hub, at least in some cases and especially for HD: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post462171

Insufficient power might explain how you could get a channel lock but signal strength 0. This thread probably should've been on the NextPVR Support forum.
