I have ordered one piece, and will report back once I have gotten the product and tested it.

Ok the package came and I tested it.

Basically the bad part about the tuner is that the drivers seem to be not BDA, so cannot use other TV tuner app to tune and watch TV. So this includes NextPVR too.

But the provided TV app can tune to DVB-T signals from the aerial antenna (still can't get DVB-T2 signals though, maybe due to my north area). Can receive unencrypted DVB-C signals from the StarHub antenna point like HD5, CH5, CH8, etc (ie all the free-to-air channels plus KaraOk channel).

So other than the peeve with the drivers not BDA compliant it's not a bad tuner to consider since it's cheap. But I do hope that they improve the drivers further.

By the way, the company AstroMeta released a recent driver that now allows BDA-compliant access for the other TV app like NextPVR, so now I'm not restricted to using the company's own TV app. Remaining peeve is that it only allows DVB-T2/T and not for DVB-C, which still requires the company's own TV app to tune.

Hi Kiwi,

Would you recommend this card? How is it at tuning / changing channels in NPVR? Is it quick / reliable? I'm looking to get a DVB-T2 tuner (and don't have a PCI-E slot) but don't want a false economy by buying a slow / unreliable tuner. Smile

Thank you Smile

Depends on whether you would like to use BDA-compliant programs like NextPVR for tuning. If so, currently the drivers only allow DVB-T2 channels for the BDA-compliance. To watch DVB-C you will have to use the in-house program.

Also, the DVB-T2 seems to be not compliant with DVB-T2 standard of version 1.3.1. So if your broadcaster uses 1.3.1 then you will need a DVB-T2 tuner that supports 1.3.1.

Hi Kiwi,

Thanks for the info. Smile Hmm, seems like this one might be a false economy at that rate of going. Would want it for Freeview HD in UK on NPVR.

Ever tried the August DVB-T210? It's about the same price for a DVB-T2 tuner?

If I'm not wrong the UK Freeview doesn't need 1.3.1 compliance, though I will need confirmation from those UK users here in this forum, as I'm not from UK. So this tuner might still work for you for a cheap price.
