2 shows, 1 transponder, 1 tuner?

If I remember correctly NPVR allows you to view or record 2 or more shows at the same time using 1 tuner as long as it's on the same transponder?
Well just tried it and it's not working for me.

I'm recording a show on 58.1 and tried to view channel 58.2 (same transponder) but I got the "Unable to find available capture device" popup.

I dunno, it certainly works here. I have the same channels you do. I just recorded 58.1 and watched 58.2, and both were assigned to my single ATSC tuner (HVR-850).

I'm running 3 dual tuner Avermedia A188's. I only have 1 configured with NPVR. I'm trying to see if I can get a stable system running before I make the transfer from Mediaportal. Mediaportal's been running great but lately i've been running into some recording issues. Mostly that the Recording rules are limiting. So i'm getting rogue recordings very often. I was going to change the recording engine to Argus but there's not much installation info for MediaPortal.

Have you disabled the tuners in NextPVR you don't have configured? If not that might explain why multi-rec isn't working.

I disabled the other tuners. Restarted the Recording Service. I no longer get the "Unable to find available capture device" popup. But now NPVR hangs on the "Please Wait" popup.

I don't think you properly shutdown/restarted. Use the app on the start menu and if you did, reboot.

Rebooted the pc but it's still not working.

NRecord still thinks live tv isn't possible on your tuner when it is, and then it's crashing after the first time through the tuner list.

odd, I have essentially the same setup as you, and the same OTA channels, but I can't reproduce any of your failures. I could create a strange situation where Live TV should have been watched using the same tuner as recording on the same physical channel, but instead would go to another lower priority tuner if it was available; yet if I blocked that other tuner, then the same exact scenario would use multi-record (haven't had a chance to analyze the logs to see what NRecord thought was going on). But there was never a failure of any sort.

are you running with all patches from the sticky thread? I don't have them all, haven't installed any but the first few, so I'm wondering if a bug has been introduced. No time to test further now, but will over the long weekend.
