I am using:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Hauppauge HVR-2250
ATSC Antenna that has been tested and working
Decoder - Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder (this is the only option I can select)

I have been through the general settings and been able to get the ATSC tuner to scan available channels, selected a folder to store files, but when selecting Live TV, I am only getting a black screen. No sound and no picture.
The guide is not updating at all, (no show detail) is the only thing listed at every show.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Can you preview any video when scanning channels?

Another thing to try is installing Hauppauge WinTV and see how the tuner performs in the proprietary application.

Thank you for taking the time to try to help.
I do not know how to preview video while scanning channels.
I have not installed the WinTV program yet but I did get Windows Media Center configured and it seems to work perfectly. The channels all come in quickly and the guide is working as well.
Can you give me any other tips or trys?

You can't preview in NextPVR, but the scan should show the OTA names so that isn't a big deal. You are going to need to install an ac3 filter LAV or ac3filter are good choices.

I have no experience with WMC but the fact that it can play live TV is a good sign, means the hardware & drivers are all up and running. No need for Hauppauge WinTV in your case. Should just be an issue of getting the right configuration on NPVR. Unfortunately I don't have access to my system at the moment and can't provide any more details.

Update:
After installing and running Windows Media Center I now have video coming through the NextPVR but no sound. The media guide is also partially working. It is receiving information for only three channels.
I read elsewhere that the HVR-2250 uses AAC Audio but when in Settings/ Decoder there is no option to select an AAC Audio Decoder.
Do I need to download an AAC Audio Decoder? If so why is WMC working with sound?
Again, Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

See my post above. You need ac3 in the US for digital.

try reading the section on decoders in the sticky, post #2.

and yes, to answer your potential next question, having no audio decoder can result in a black screen with no video even though the video decoder is correct.

If both sound and video work on WMC why not in NextPVR? I have had bad luck in the past adding codecs and I would like to avoid adding any if I don't need to.

WMC uses the Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder for AC3 Audio. However Microsoft restricted that decoder so that it can't be used with any other application for AC3; no such restriction exists for the video decoder. Sorry, if you want to run NPVR you have to add at least an AC3 decoder, blame Microsoft not us. AC3Filter is very non-intrusive (just get the lite version), as is LAV Audio Decoder.
