I do not use preset sizes.... instead I use the Ratio and set it somewhere between .25 to .40 I find the results with ratio provide better results.

Your upstream rate that you have with our ISP coupled with the CPU power on the server directly impact the quality you can get in streaming outside of the home network. I have a 30/30 Fiber connection with a 6 core CPU and get excellent results over the internet so long as where I am connected has a decent bitrate.... which unfortunately is not that often...

I used these settings several times over the last week remotely and results were good.

There isn't a way that an app could be created to handle the mechanization of all this... so one could simply go to the guide, click on a button/link associated with a channel listing, and have it spawn MXPlayer with the correct open stream info (stream transcode by VLC)?

At the very least, it would be nice if the cancel button on manage recordings actually cancelled the recording (instead of taking you to the VLC stream setup page). And at the same time it would be nice if, in addition to a cancel button that actually cancels, there was a "stream" button that took you the VLC stream setup/start stream/stop stream page. The only way to remotely cancel an in progress recording apparently is to go into iNEWA and cancel it and then delete it.

Attitude adjustment time. That is simply a bug that someone else pointed out a few days ago. I showed it to UJB and he has already fixed it for his next version of NEWA.

Attitude is probably not the right term. Frustration is probably more appropriate. Not only appropriate, but in my view justified after all the time I've spent trying to get this thing to deliver on advertised capability (only to end up with an almost complete bust). Granted that advertisement isn't really up front. But if you look through the documentation and forums and at apps like nDroid, getting the notion that transcoding live TV is supported/possible isn't too much of a stretch. What I've found is something different. In fact, the key elements are there to do it. But it's not really supported with what's there. Frustrating. What could be.

Anyway... I had no intention to come off with attitude or offense. Just trying to get where I thought I could go... only to end up somewhat disappointed.

I acknowledge that you are frustrated, but no one here has ever said that NextPVR would be very good for

a) transcoding
b) streaming live tv over wifi - this can require a lot of buffering

If that was you real goal even a little searching here would have shown you were in for a rough ride. To take your frustration out on the developers is not fair.

Also remember all the developers do this stuff as a hobby in their spare time & it's not commercial software...... asking nicely goes a long way towards getting things fixed for a better experience (if it's at all possible to actually do what's asked)

Only by rewriting how View Live works.... View Live is dependent on the VLC Browser Plugin to work. I don't know if that plugin exists on Android.....my guess is not.

You may want to look at the NDroid or NDroidTE utility.....it may give you more direct viewing.....but it is using native NPVR transcoding not VLC.

Point taken. Again. Not offense intended.

As to the two items above. Both can be done and done well with NPVR. The process of getting it done is tedious though and would never pass the WAF. She barely accepts WMC 7 and NextPVR in general (doesn't really understand it and considers it overly complicated).

Certainly understood. I do appreciate the developers efforts and understand the undertaking that it requires. They've certainly produced a viable competitor/alternative to WMC without having Microsoft's considerable resources to get-r-done. To that I tip my hat.
